Deep Cuts Proposed to DD Services! Your Action Critical NOW!

Family Support Network Members and Friends. . ..

On February 16th, Governor Quinn gave his Budget address to the combined houses

of the Illinois General Assembly. The news is devastatingly grim. Despite a tax

increase supported by the human services community, crippling cuts were

proposed.

Cuts to the Division of Developmental Disabilities budget for Fiscal Year 2012

total $76 million.

Below is a table provided by the Division of DD below. All of this is a moving

target, changing all the time. We understand that the reductions for FY 11 are

tentatively scheduled to be implemented April 1st of THIS YEAR!

Many people will lose services immediately. Many agencies may be forced out of

business. Our providers of service already struggle with inadequate rates and

wait over six months to be paid. The PUNS waiting list has grown to over 21,039.

Our community cannot sustain any cuts of any kind.

Please call your State Senator and Representative. Tell them how these cuts will

affect your families and fellow advocates. They can be identified at

www.ilga.gov along with their contact information. We are in the process of

putting together a comprehensive campaign and are counting on your passionate

involvement.

Please “friend†the Family Support Network on Facebook.
