> As resources for those with disabilities become more limited, pro-active

parents, professionals and agen cies are seeking ways to leverage resources to

achieve the best life for their charges. The Illinois Association of

Microboards and atives (IAMC) is a leader in helping families create

person-centered resources that include social support, living

> Using a shared vision (“the PATHâ€) as a foundation, the IAMC helps

families form microboards and/or cooperatives. Microboards exist to serve the

needs of one person and can support the individual in ways that an aging parent

or depleted agency can not. Co-operatives similarly serve the many. The IAMC

also provides information and support on creative housing options, employment,

and building community inclusion based on the needs and de sires of individuals.

By creating these small scale opportunities, the IAMC is building a new model

for independence.
