Below is an article describing a $130 M WL initiative, 113 M Olmsted initiative

and an institutional closure in NJ. NJ is basically a year ahead of PA in its

budget cutting cycle and they are doing manor initiatives for people with

intellectual disabilities in year two.

Governor Releases SFY 2012 Budget with Increases for Community Supports and

Services

Governor Christie delivered his State Fiscal Year 2012 Budget today

calling for New Jerseyans to recognize a “new normal†of fiscal restraint

and performance budgeting for all State departments. The Governor discussed the

importance of providing a “safety net†for people who need it the most,

including, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In his

budget, the Governor calls for the closure of Vineland Developmental Center

along with increases in funding for Olmstead and the Community Services Waiting

List. The proposed budget includes:

* the closure of the east campus of Vineland Developmental Center and

allocates $6.5m in bridge funding

* $113m in new Olmstead funding

* $130m in new funding for the Community Services Waiting List

* and increased funding for CPEP, emergency services, day services, and

people aging out of education

* $1.627m for discharges from psychiatric hospital for people with dual

diagnoses.
