I'm excited to see this model popping up again. My daughter has been a

" Next Chapter " Book Club member for about 5 years now. Every Wednesday

evening, she and her 3 friends go out for dinner and spend some time on

their book. They are now on their 6th or 7th book. In truth, it's more

about their regular dinner out, but the improvement in reading skill that

has happened - even in those considered non-readers - has been pretty

amazing. The best think about it is that the focus is not on teaching

reading, but on having fun and good conversation.
