Guest guest
Liz, I'm so tired this a.m. I don't even know where to begin, except to say how sad it is. On so many levels. Obviously any one of us could fall and hit our heads and suffer head trauma leading to death...but your stories thru the years about this particular facility where your son lived for some time have been jolting, nauseating at times, and sobering for all of us other parents on the list. If he has family still involved, I hope they pursue the full story and facts surrounding his death. If not, the State of Illinois. I'm glad for his sake that you say he had a group of people who DID care about him, and that he was a part of. Feeling like you belong somewhere, where you are valued, is such a basic yet often elusive part of life for so many of our adult children. I'm glad he had 'people' and thank you for sharing this detail with us. Listmates who are not as sleep-deprived as me this a.m. -- what else do we say or do? L. From: Liz Sent: Sunday, February 13, 2011 10:37 PM IPADDUnite Subject: It STILL doesn't end......sad news Last Monday, I had heard that one of my favorite residents at the ICF my son had been in, was in the hospital. (It got me to counting....that's 8 out of 16 that have been hurt or in the hospital in under 3 yrs.) Apparently, he'd fallen & hit his head. Hear on Monday, that he was awake. (don't know when the accident happened). Thursday evening, I heard he died & on Sat. his obituary confirmed it. (At least they did call an ambulance for him) I know that it has to be reported, but what angers me, is that the report will probably be covered up to save somebody's butt. I saw where memorials were to go to the facility. Not from this chick. Nothing against the residents, but I have no faith in how the facility would spend the donations. I'll be giving a memorial to a group of people that did care; that he was a part of. Liz
Guest guest
This is a very sad story. I also think it is important that we shart the names of the facilities. Liz, would you mind telling us where this occurred? Families should be made aware, even if it was all just a tragic accident and no blame assigned. So sorry to hear about the resident and thanks for sharing whatever you are comfortable with. Guest guest
Pam, The facility is in Pontoon Beach, IL (near Stl Louis; called Lynhaven. I wouldn't want to blame anybody, if it was a terrible accident, but think it should be checked into, to make sure. I do believe this resident was well liked by staff & the other residents; so that's a plus. I'm just so tired of all the accidents that have happened there. Liz > > This is a very sad story. Guest guest
I have a contact at Equip for Equality. I am sending her the information. She says they will investigate the Lynnhaven incident and the death that resulted. Thanks, Liz, for making us aware of the situation. Now that gentleman has many of us who will think of him and remember him. May he rest in peace. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@...
