This is one of those OMG moments...

I am really sick about this...Believe me when I tell you that she was an ally...

This is a big loss for us.

Arc and Director Teninty Resigns

The Arc of Illinois

March 22, 2011

Leaders in The Arc:

I met with Director Teninty yesterday morning before the House Appropriations

Committee when she informed me she was resigning.

I will miss Lilias leadership and courage during these difficult time here in

Illinois.

I wish her well and hope to continue working with her and HSRI!

New Opportunity

I wish there were a more personal way to share this, but I hampered by

impersonal technology.

I informed Division staff and all DHS Leadership today that after much thought

and consultation with my family, I am resigning as Director of the Division of

Developmental Disabilities to accept a position with HSRI (Human Services

Research Institute). Given all that we have accomplished over the past four

years, this was a very difficult decision to make.

I am confident the leadership of DHS under Secretary Saddler and Assistant

Secretary Grace Hou will continue to move the service system for people with

developmental disabilities forward in a manner consistent with the vision we

have established. And they will have the benefit of working closely with the

strong leadership team we have developed within the Division. My last day with

the state will be Friday, April 15th. Reta Hoskin will assume the role of

Acting Director as Secretary Saddler works with the Administration to identify a

new Director for the Division.

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve in this position and for

your support of people with developmental disabilities in Illinois.

Very Sincerely,

Lilia

I can' add anymore to that except to say that I let out a gasp when I read this.
