create more welcoming spiritual environments for our loved ones who have

disabilities.

Jewish Community Survey On Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental

Disabilities

Ensuring that all community members have the opportunity to actively participate

and be engaged in community life is a core value of Judaism and our Federation

system. For individuals with physical, intellectual or mental disabilities

engagement can be challenging and require additional communal support. Of

particular concern is the availability of high-quality supported living options.

A group of interested community members are working with representatives of

Jewish Child and Family Services, Keshet, and the Jewish Federation of

Metropolitan Chicago. Together, they have been exploring options for the

creation of sustainable solutions ensuring that our loved ones and fellow

community members living with intellectual/developmental disabilities have

viable housing and related support options available.

In order to better understand the scope of need in our community, as well as

assess potential interest in participating, the group has forwarded this request

to a variety of institutions within the community for distribution to their
