Guest guest
Willow Creek Community Church's main location in Barrington is placing emphasis on expanding their special needs supports. In an effort to do this the church is hosting a service with Pastor Chuck Coulson & his daughter on June 11/12. I believe 's son has autism. Willow has multiple locations including barrington, dupage, mchenry, northshore, downtow. Willow also hosts an all day fishing derby festival in the summer- June I think, and a 2 days at lake Como- food, boating & fun, 2xs in the summer. Free & fun. contact willow for more info http://www.willowcreek.org/disabilities Due to a family medical situation, Chuck Colson and his daughter, , who were scheduled to speak at weekend services on March 19/20, have postponed their visit to Willow Creek until June 11/12. > > Thought I would share this and encourage anyone who is Jewish to fill it out. > It is interesting considering our recent discussion on IPADDU about the need to create more welcoming spiritual environments for our loved ones who have disabilities. > Ellen > Ellen Garber Bronfeld > egskb@... > In my temple newsletter > > > Jewish Community Survey On Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities > > > Ensuring that all community members have the opportunity to actively participate and be engaged in community life is a core value of Judaism and our Federation system. For individuals with physical, intellectual or mental disabilities engagement can be challenging and require additional communal support. Of particular concern is the availability of high-quality supported living options. > > A group of interested community members are working with representatives of Jewish Child and Family Services, Keshet, and the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. Together, they have been exploring options for the creation of sustainable solutions ensuring that our loved ones and fellow community members living with intellectual/developmental disabilities have viable housing and related support options available. > > > In order to better understand the scope of need in our community, as well as assess potential interest in participating, the group has forwarded this request to a variety of institutions within the community for distribution to their members. Please take just a couple of minutes to click on the link below and complete a brief survey. Your input is valuable to the process and the group looks forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much for your interest and consideration. Please feel free to forward this. > > http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VQZ5j6C > > > > >
