Thanks for the clarification Ellen, as it was sounding to me, like it was a

redundancy of agencies, which is really what IL doesn't need right now.

I didn't even know about CART until it was too late for my son to benefit.

Sounds like SST would have been just what he needed 10 months ago. Wow; can't

believe it's been that long since he's been home. I'm keeping the info in case

we ever need it.

I'm gonna combine two postings together, as it's been a long 14+ hr work day for

me.

Yesterday before I went to work, I asked to put his sheets in the dryer.

Not only did he do that, but he also put the bottom sheet on his bed fairly

decent...

I was going to give his Risperidone after coming home last evening from

work & didn't see it in his pill container. Asked his dad if he had given it to

him & he said " No " . came in & said he took it..ALL BY HIMSELF!!! We're

FINALLY getting more instances of him doing things he could/should be doing!!!

When stuff like that happens, it makes me so glad we pulled him out of the ICF.

Ok, thanks for that clarification. Good to know they are there, have good

response times, and are making a difference. I'll bet (hope?) someone,

somewhere, had good baseline data which will support continued funding of this

important intervention.

Thanks Ellen!

Subject: Clarification on SST and CART

Hi all:

Just a few more details about Cart and SST. Both have teams throughout the

state. Cart actually met monthly prior to SST and now, only meets as needed. SST

has been working so well, that since its inception about a year ago, there has

only been the need to place one person in a state operated facility for crisis

intervention. I am not sure how many individuals were institutionalized for

crisis in the past, but it would be interesting to know.

Lilia Teninty is responsible for putting the crisis intervention teams into

place. It has been considered by all to be a great success and a marked

improvement over the Cart process since response time is typically within 48

hours now, and with Cart, which met monthly, there was often a long delay in

response to crises.

Also, referrals to SST are through PAS Agencies. Families cannot, on their own,

request crisis intervention. One would hope that if there was a crisis, families

could rely on their PAS Agency caseworker to work with them and make a referral

if needed.
