Arc Position Opening for FSN Executive Director The Arc of Illinois March 18, 2011 Leaders in The Arc: Our good friend Charlotte Cronin has decided she is going to retire. However, Charlottes definition of retirement may be different than yours or mine. She is not going away; she just wants to redirect her advocacy for people with disabilities and their families. I will be asking our Family Support Committee of The Arc Board of Directors to screen resumes for the position of Executive Director of the Family Support Network and make recommendations to me about the qualities necessary to head up this important work. A job description follows and is also attached. Please share it with other advocates. We will be accepting resumes until April 15th. Resumes can be emailed to me along with a statement about the primary reason you feel you have the skills to run the Family Support Network. Tony auski The Arc of Illinois 815-464-1832 Executive Director Job Description Position Summary: The Executive Director of the Family Support Network directs all activities of the FSN and oversees personnel employed by the FSN. This position works closely with and is under the supervision of the Executive Director of The Arc of Illinois Principal Duties: a.. Educates and organizes board, membership, and policymakers on issues of importance to individuals with disabilities and their families through newsletters, e-mail messages, presentations, correspondence, phone calls, and other appropriate media. b.. Maintains relationships with other organizations and communication with the disability community and DHS staff by attending meetings, presenting at meetings, and participating on various committees as appropriate. c.. Provides continuity of the Family Support Network through fund-raising, management of FSN funding, organization and maintenance of the Board, and supervision of FSN staff. The Executive Director works approximately 30 hours per week. Supervision duties include all other FSN staff.
