The Medicaid card is coded as a " qualified Medicaid Beneficiary

> paid for with the Medicaid card.

OMG....When I went to the SSA office the other day, the lady I talked to said

something about The QMB, but said I'd have to go to the Medicaid office to find

out more. (I left there SOOO confused, cause the lady at SSA didn't know much

about it.

I've been flipping out for days, because my son just got off SSI & onto SSDI (in

Jan) on his dad's work record. I've been trying to figure out how to spend his

money, so he could be under $2,000.

I was planning on going on my next late work day, but not looking forward to it.

I hadn't realized that he would have been in danger of losing his Medicaid.

I'm taking it that I can quit worrying about everything? That it will be okay if

he has over $2,000?

Your child still cannot have more than $2,000. All the Pickle amendment does is

protect medicaid when ONLY the excess INCOME of the SSDI DAC benefits push a

person over the poverty level. The person still has to have less than $2,000 in

RESOURCES. It is important to stay under $2,000 unless your child is receiving

medicaid under Health Benefits for Working Disabled.

Is there a maximum amount of income you can have and still get Medicaid if you

are a DAC?  My son gets SSDI and SSI and is a DAC and also works part time.

When we applied for Medicaid the spend down was too high and had to pay for

HBWD.

Terrie,

Thanks.

I was told he has about 30 days before we have to do anything with the overage.

He did end up spending some of his money today on things he can use.

Gues I'll bite the bullet anyway next week & visit the Medicaid office, so I can

get things in writing.

TPL  means  Third Party Liability. This just means that he has a commercial

insurance in addition to Medicaid. So Medicaid will not pay until this

commercial insurance pays.

QMB specifically means that he has Medicare & Medicaid. There are several codes

for this:

QMB Only,   QMB Medical     and QMB dual.      Each code has a

different

meaning.
