Guest guest
I attended a town hall meeting this evening, with Sen Mark Kirk & Rep Shimkus. I was able to ask a question....This was basically what I said. " Il has been ranked 51st inservices for person with disabilities. Many agencies are shutting down because they aren't being paid. People who need services (including my son) aren't getting them. Is there anything you can do to fix this? He basically said " no " but referred me to a lady in his office to talk to. The police chief was also there, & I talked to him a little bit. (I've known him for several years) When he asked me how things were going,I told him that they could be better. I told him about a conference I'd been to & 's shirt he wore about him needing CILA funding, but that the state of IL says he'd have to be homeless, abused or neglected. I then asked him how to go about getting him to be homeless,,,,(which really sucks to even think about that.) I'll call Rep. Shimkus's office for an appt., then will talk to the chief again. Right now he's better off at home, but hopefully something good will come out of this, if & when we need it. Liz
