Dear Friend,

Engman (transprogcoach@...) thought you might be interested in this

story from CEC SmartBrief:

Is the SSI program flawed?

Some members of Congress are calling for an investigation into whether a program

that provides benefits to low-income children with disabilities is

unintentionally creating incentives for parents to medicate their children,

among other concerns. A newspaper investigation recently found that the

Supplemental Security Income program, created in 1972 for children with physical

disabilities, now serves primarily children with mental, behavioral and learning

disorders.
