 Dear and Anita,

 

We would like to introduce to you our therapeutic day school, Parkland

Preparatory Academy, located in Streamwood, IL.  We have created a school whose

goal is to become the new model for servicing the needs of special education

students. Parkland Prep is a safe and nurturing environment for students where

literacy, self-management of emotional issues, along with life and transitional

skills are taught and reinforced every day. To ensure these goals, we have

assembled a staff that represents some of the finest professionals in the field

of special education, all whom have worked together for over five years. Our

entire team of dedicated teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals, are

committed to involving and working cooperatively with family members, home

school districts, and other service providers to maintain constant and open

communication to ensure the progress and growth of our students. Students are

involved in all decisions regarding their

Individualized Educational Plans. They participate in regular supportive

feedback meetings regarding their progress, all in a safe and secure environment

that is based on arriving at solutions by discussing them, not dictating them.

This environment allows our students to thrive and participate fully in the

educational experience and move forward to the life they so richly deserve.

With students ranging from ages 12-21, each our classrooms are staffed by a

licensed special education teacher and a paraprofessional, containing no more

than ten students, all grouped by ability and age-appropriateness.
