Guest guest
Considering that your description is basically what I, and probably many others have been doing for years -- and not to introduce more complexity into funding the support -- I've often wondered whether those who don't require 1/1 attention can share PSWs in such activities. The uniqueness of most of our kids works against that, but in some cases could a little networking and matchmaking be worthwhile? Too bad I can't run and Adam doesn't like to. Now, if you can get him on a bike... yada, yada. Thais, are you lurking? > > > > > > Hi groupies. Guest guest
Hmm, matchmaking...interesting concept, there, my friend, especially in light of Valentine's Day around the corner. I trust we're talking platonic matchmaking, right? IPADD does have a database section on our homepage, which I believe something like 40 of us have logged into (out of nearly 800 members) so if we're serious about the matchmaking based on rec/leisure activities, people could go there and add or read the info from our posted members. It sorts by county/community so you get an idea of who might be listed in your area. 's right, though, of course, about it being difficult but not impossible to find a friend. I think Diane's son has found lots of pals thru Special Olympics where they share common interests, right, Diane? , for those of you newer to the list, in addition to being an avid cyclist with his son, is the self-appointed 'poet laureate' of IPADD, and he wrote my daughter and me a beautiful poem when she was leaving transition and I was scared. I printed it out and hung it on our refrigerator where I see it every day. It brought me more comfort and smiles than you could ever know. Not sure I ever told you, , about how much you helped. That little poem and your thoughtfulness in creating it got me through more crises of confidence than you'll ever know. Thank you.
