Guest guest
You may want to try Craig's List - that is how we have found our PSW's. You have to be willing to pay $25 for a one month ad, and you have to do LOTS of screenings (emails, phone calls, plus interviews), but we have found that very successful. Craig's List finally has a nice filter system in place that keeps lots of the weird responses away. Good luck!! Looking for a " PSW " (Personal Support Worker " Hi groupies. I am after 4 years with 1 wonderful worker sometimes working up to 80 hours per month, has gotten a full time teaching job and needs to move on. So I now need to hire another support worker. I did manage to hire someone, however she is only available about 25 hours per month and at my pay rate, I have 82 hours available. OI pay $14 per hour, and need someone who likes to get out and about in the community with my 18 year old very pleasant son. PLease feel free to give out my email address of swedegrl@... . Anyone though who applies will eed to get background checked and be willing to sign up with Aces$, for a pay agent. Diane S.

Guest guest
Or search in the Resume section by key words. I've seen some pretty good ones... on paper, at least... and you don't have to " open the flood gates " . > > You may want to try Craig's List - that is how we have found our PSW's. > > You have to be willing to pay $25 for a one month ad, and you have to do LOTS of screenings (emails, phone calls, plus interviews), but we have found that very successful. Guest guest
Hi all. I guess i failed to mention where we live. We live in Naperville are looking for 3 hour after school shifts and some Saturdays usually 12-4pm, and looking for someone who is physically active or considers themselves to be someone who likes to go out and about walking and some driving for 3 to 4 hours at a time. All 's shifts are spent getting out and about in the community so the person must have a safe vehicle. ( I do give some extra $ for gas each month and pay for activities out in the community when money is needed). The person needs to be creative on how to spend time in the community. Sometimes it's taking my son to a specific event or place and sometimes it's just doing what a lot of us who have any extra time would do, go for a walk in the mall, a run on a path, go to the bookstore, walk around different suburban downtown areas, look at toys in Toys r us, browse in Target, get hot chocolate at Starbucks. Hope this clarifies some important details, that I seemed to have left out. I do currently have 1 24 year old worker who is able to train on some shifts. She currently is working every Sunday 12 to 4pm and 1 day afterschool, sometimes 2 days after school. She is a teachers aide and Part time athletics coach at Plainfiled East High school. My son loves to be active and he runs, and loves to be out in the community. Diane S. > > > > Hi groupies. Guest guest
's idea for a " less personal support worker " is a good one. We have done that over the years with various friend's of Noahs, depending upon the PSW's skills. It works best for things like going to a mall, bowling, movies and hanging out at home, but of course that all depends on the individual's needs and preferences. It certainly can promote goals of socialization, turn taking, etc...It can also save some money, again depending on the specific circumstances and arrangements. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@...
