Guest guest
We've had a lot of discussion about possible unionization of in-home caregivers. A huge local of one of the major unions, SEIU, has dropped health insurance coverage of dependent children for the unionized caregivers in NY. They are blaming the new health care plan for sending up the costs of coverage, and the state of NY for not picking up the rest of the tab. http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2010/11/20/union-drops-health-coverage-for-worke\ rs-children/ " One of the largest union-administered health-insurance funds in New York is dropping coverage for the children of more than 30,000 low-wage home attendants, union officials said. The union blamed financial problems it said were caused by the state’s health department and new national health-insurance requirements.
