Thanks for sharing this, Thais. It sounds like a nice opportunity for the right

mix of individuals. How great that they have more college volunteers than

buddies, too. Speaks volumes about all of those 'typical' college students,

doesn't it?

Thais and I are part of the same 'club' of moms whose 'typical sib' left the

nest this fall...we're hanging in there but it's hard, folks! The rest of you

make it look easy and never complain, as for me I still throw the occasional

pity party here and so far hubbie has been very understanding.

To the original poster with the question about finding friends, there is also a

support group in Naperville for AS teens and adults, run or affiliated with Jill

Holman. Do you know of her? If not, email me offlist and I will get you the

Quentin is doing this for the first time this year, They really want same age

peers its 18-22. They will let you come to a group event to see if its a good

fit. Quentin is not AS and pretty much non verbal but he had a great time at the

two group event he attended last year. See below.

Our first event will be on: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH from 1:00-3:00pm

The event will take place at Benedictine University, and we are

meeting at the Krasa Student Center, a building on campus.

(Please be aware of our campus construction and single route of

entrance to our university currently. If there are any troubles, feel

free to call my cell phone the day of the event!)

This event is called the BEST BUDDIES BENEDICTINE FRIENDSHIP FIND!

Each buddy will find their College Buddy through a fun scavenger hunt!

And then as a group our chapter will come back to the Quad and have a

BBQ/cookout, play games, throw frisbees, draw with chalk and much

more!

We are VERY excited for the event, we have a HUGE surge in membership

with college students this year and are actually looking for MORE

buddies!

Therefore, if you know another family that may be interested in

participating, PLEASE pass along my information to them! We would LOVE

to have them!
