Survey Parenting Children & Youth with Special Needs As you may know, I have been working as a parent consultant as part of an NIH research project to help identify and acknowledge all of the unique experience, skills and knowledge it takes to raise a child with special needs. Finally, the online survey is here! https://www.surveymonkey.com/specialneedschild <https://www.surveymonkey.com/specialneedschild> Please consider taking the survey if you care for a child under 21 years of age with special needs. I also need your help to reach other parents of children and youth with special needs. So, please forward the survey to other parents, groups, listservs and post to websites and in newsletters serving families of children and youth with special needs. You can use the letter below (adapted as needed) to share general research information, research contacts and the survey link. Please let me know if you have any questions about the research or the survey. Thank you so much! Jennings https://www.surveymonkey.com/specialneedschild <https://www.surveymonkey.com/specialneedschild> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am writing from Northeastern University’s Institute on Urban Health Research to let you know about our online survey: “Parenting Children and Youth with Special Needsâ€. This survey is part of a research project funded by the National Institutes of Health and is for parents who have at least one child with special needs who is under age 21. We are conducting this survey to better understand the work – tasks and activities - that parents of children with special needs do. The information we gather will help us to increase the visibility of this work, help others recognize its value, and enable us to advocate effectively for increased supports for families of children with special needs. Thank you for your help in distributing the link to this survey! To make it as easy as possible for you, we have drafted some text that could be sent in an email, listserve broadcast or in a newsletter: You are receiving this email because researchers at Northeastern University have asked us to forward it to members of our organization/our listserv. We want to help them access a broad range of parents of children and youth with special needs, because they are conducting a survey to ask about the experience of parenting a child with special needs: https://www.surveymonkey.com/specialneedschild <https://www.surveymonkey.com/specialneedschild> While the survey is not from our organization, we are happy to cooperate with the researchers and are glad they intend to use the results to advocate for policies and programs to meet the needs of children with special needs. Be assured that if you choose to participate, your responses will not be made available to us and will have no bearing on your relationship with us, or any of the services and supports you receive. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the head of the project, Dolores Acevedo-, Ph.D., at Northeastern University: 617-359-0785. Thank you for considering their request to fill out the survey.
