Guest guest
It occurs to me that another complication and limitation caused by inflexible rules and regulations is that children with medical needs can be in a community group home whereas adults with medical needs often do not meet the criteria for CILA housing/funding. It is an unfortunate catch-22. When this particular group reached the age of 18 they no longer qualified for the same kind of housing and funding. The Department of Human Services extended the age to 21 and now the fun begins as DHS and Anixter try to figure out a compromise to ensure that the group stays together, living in their house in the community. Hopefully, DHS and Anixter will reach an agreement and most importantly, the individuals will continue living together with the really great supports and services they have been receiving by Anixter Center.
