Guest guest
Yup, I read that. If you're ever somewhere and can't brush your teeth, eat strawberries. Guest guest
But how do you know you don't have any cavities if you haven't been to the dentist? I guess that's what I'm getting at. I would feel terrible if my kids developed a cavity and it went unchecked and developed into something serious. Thanks! Kay I only have cavities when I go to the dentist (hmmm.) Haven't gone in years, haven't had a cavity in years. Coincidence? I think not.
Guest guest
That shouldn't be a problem! We all love strawberries... but they're not in season long enough around here! Is there something else we could use during other times of the year, some kind of rinse or something to help reduce plaque?? Thanks! Kay Kay, don't laugh, but one of the best things for kids to keep their teeth clean is organic strawberries........JMO Joanna
Guest guest
well, ryan had cavities; one in particular got so bad in between appointments that became so deep our son ended up in horrendous pain and had to have the tooth yanked on an emergency basis. i'm not sure i'm with you guys on this dental issue. we see our holistic dentist; they do NOT use x-rays...we do not use flouride and neither do they...we love this guy. don't know about you guys, but i don't like plaque buildup on my teeth and i do like to know that my gums are in good condition.... kim Re: OT - Dental Checkups > But how do you know you don't have any cavities if you haven't been to the dentist? Guest guest
I think they manufacture them. I was told I had a cavity 10 years ago. Told them I'd call to make an appt. to get it filled. I never did. Still have the tooth, no pain, no cavity. Re: OT - Dental Checkups > But how do you know you don't have any cavities if you haven't been to the dentist? I never did. Still have the tooth, no pain, no cavity. , They do manufacture them. I have a dentist friend (mercury free etc) who told me that he was taught in dentistry school, when someone came in with a little cavity they were told to drill the entire inside of the tooth away and pack it with amalgam. My son has had three checks, he is seven. We found the beginning of a cavity, the dentist just buffed away around it and left it, said it would be fine, 6 months later it's like it was never there, no filling, anything........... Guest guest
hi kay, i don't know where you live, but we live in danville, ca. happened to find a very good holistic dentist (even though he's technically not advertising himself as such, politics and all that)....anyway, even my hubby was persuaded to go to him. we both like him and our son has his first appt. with him next week. i agree with most of what i've seen from folks on this forum, but i don't like to mess around with my teeth...so, think i'll keep my dentist...and have my teeth cleaned twice a year...besides, they feel so good after the cleanings! kim Re: OT - Dental Checkups > Thanks for your input, Kim. That's what has me concerned... the kids and their teeth and gums. If I could find something that would help prevent the plaque buildup... something nontoxic. Guest guest
Yeah, I know. I have a mouth full, too, until I smartened up. Never had a toothache in my life. Re: OT - Dental Checkups > I have to agree with you there . I didn't have a cavity until I was about 24. I went to a new dentist who discovered I had several " small " cavities. Dummy me let the man fill me up with mercury!!! : ( I often wondered, years later, if that guy was full of it and just wanted to see some silver in my mouth! > > Kay > > > I think they manufacture them. Guest guest
Cool! Thanks for sharing, I haven't brought my daughter to teh dentist at all yet (she's 5) because I didn't want to deal with them. When I first came to the US I couldn't understand it - in fact I still don't. I went my entire life without having someone else clean my teeth. I've had them cleaned once in the five years I've been in the US. I wish I knew a dentist personally, I'm sure a friend would tell the truth about cleaning. Guest guest
Have to watch certain " sugar free " gums, though. Many of them contain aspartame (that tears my stomach up, even from a piece of gum). Kay some chewing gums? I am pretty sure about this...didn't know it was good, though (maybe Extra gum?) Guest guest
Hi Kim, I'm in Kentucky. Unfortunately it's not too easy to find a holistic anything around here! : ( Kay hi kay, i don't know where you live, but we live in danville, ca. happened to find a very good holistic dentist (even though he's technically not advertising himself as such, politics and all that)....anyway, even my hubby was persuaded to go to him. we both like him and our son has his first appt. with him next week. kim
Guest guest
gotta admit, guys, i don't understand how on earth you can get all of the " crap " off of your teeth unless they're professionally cleaned. i'm not talking about fluoride and x-rays, i'm just talking about cleaning. and how do you take care of your gums? some people tend to lean towards getting cavities more so than others...i guess we can just agree to disagree on this one.... kim Re: OT - Dental Checkups > In a message dated 6/7/02 6:54:19 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > vaccineinfo@... writes: > > > > My gums are > > just fine and teeth too and haven't had them cleaned in years! > > Sheri > > > > They don't do the " cleaning " thing in South Africa either. Guest guest
i would disagree with this. my father has MS and has controlled it on a raw foods diet for about 20 years now (no meat, no processed foods, no cooked foods), and he gets bad tartar buildup on his teeth that requires cleaning twice a year. now, whether or not twice a year is actually necessary is debatable, but he does get plaque. Guest guest
Dear mb, Has your father gone one step farther and looked into the mercury connection?? I have spent many months on this and the MS and complaints are very similar to mercury poisoning. You can start with Bernie Windhams site. Its all in there. You can find it at Autism-mercury on the Lists..in the files section..
