Advice On Patient Ready to Go through Chemotherapy

My mother in law is getting ready to go through a series of chemotherapy

treatments for her cancer. Would it be a wise move to purchase a wig prior or

wait until the hair begins to fall out. Someone who I knew years ago who had

cancer said that no one got to see her hair fall out since she was prepared with

a wig ahead of time. Is there anyone out there who feels it would be a good

idea?

During my chemo, I didn't wear a wig! On occassion I would wear those head

coverings that are made for that. But for the most part, I was just more

comfortable wearing nothing. I got the headcoverings from TLC,

www.tlccatalog.org. They also make wigs.

The website has tons of information about everything cancer in females!

It's a great site and a good company. They even have information on the " Look

good, feel better " program that shows women how to wear their make up without

eyelashes and eyebrows, how to wear wigs or hats or hair pieces, etc. I did the

Look good, feel better program. I loved it. I got more that $100 in free brand

name cosmetic products and made some friends that I still have!

The women I do know that did wear wigs had them made before they lost their

hair. That way they could have the wig made to more closely match their hair

color and style. My kids wanted to cut my hair off before it fell out and glue

it around the edge of a baseball cap for me to wear!
