Cytoxan is a chemotherapeutic medication or otherwise known as cancer medication. Other than known to treat several types of cancer, it is also used to treat some cases of nephrotic syndrome or kidney disease in children. Use of this medication should only be managed under strict supervision of a qualified health care professional width high experience in using cancer chemotherapeutic agents. Cytoxan is very harmful to an unborn child. It is category D in the FDA pregnancy category. Please do not take Cytoxan if you are to become pregnant or currently pregnant without talking to your doctor. Birth defects caused by Cytoxan to unborn children is not only limited to use of the medication to pregnant or to be pregnant women, cases of birth defects caused by used of the medication by the father prior to formation has been reported. It is recommended to take contraceptive measures during treatment with Cytoxan for both men and women. Cytoxan on the other hand also passes to breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. If you are breast feeding a baby please do not take Cytoxan without first talking to your doctor.
