Medline is www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed ; type in the number to see the article.

Brief history of TAC (Thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid).

A. Relative to Dr. Gosalvez, Director of Spanish Biochemical Research from

1970 to 2000 -

1979: Medline 6101417 - Dr. Gosalvez (and Dr. Brugarolas) use TAC (only) in a

clinical trial and achieve

the " ...disappearance of evidence of cancer. " ; daily oral dosage 5 mg/kg;

intravenous 20 mg/kg;

intramuscular 40 mg/kg. Oral dosage unsuccessful except in one notable case -

kidney cancer.

1990 - 2000: Letter (July 20, 2001) to S. - Dr. Gosalvez convinces

(1989) King

of Spain who then convinces (1989) President H.W. Bush to have U.S.

Military Hospitals

implement the use of TAC and another medicine; this combination was

administered to

" terminal cancer patients " .

2001: Letter (July 20, 2001) to - Dr. Gosalvez implies that this 10 year

procedure proved successful.

2005: Medline 15681606 - From 1990 to 2000 the cancer mortality rate declines in

the U.S.A.

However, in a May letter to , Dr. Gosalvez states (relative to Medline

15681610): " ...It lacks still

an explicit and complete epidemiological study made under the hypothesis of a

possible military cure of

cancer. Let see what the future brings forward. It would be nice that this

study could be made

by Americans and not by foreigners. "

B. Relative to Dr. V. Schally, a 1977 Nobel Prize winner in Medicine -

1994: Medline 7809097 - TAC appears in title, 'Potent bombesin antagonists with

C-terminal

Leu-psi(CH2-N)-Tac-NH2 or its derivatives'. Dr. Schally concludes (page

12668) that anti-cancer agents

containing TAC " ...may have important therapeutic applications for the

treatment of various malignancies

such as prostatic, gastric, and pancreatic cancer, small cell lung carcinoma,

and other tumors. "

1995 - 2005: Dr. Schally's invention, RC-3940-II, contains TAC. Laboratory

results cause Dr. Schally

to conclude that RC-3940-II might be effective in causing the " Inhibition of

growth " of various cancers;

'Renal' is Kidney, 'SCLC' is Small Cell Lung Cancer, 'Glioblastoma' is Brain

tumor;

Medline 7591214 (PANCREATIC), 9254895 (PROSTATE), 9376196 (PROSTATE), 9486581

(RENAL),

9713279 (BREAST), 9762934 (SCLC), 10597318 (GLIOBLASTOMA), 10717621 (BREAST),

10881027 (PROSTATE), 10970693 (OVARY), 11891317 (BREAST), 14660794 (SCLC),

14710236 (BREAST), 15382037 (SCLC), 15655413 (GLIOBLASTOMA).

2005 - present: Dr. Schally invents a more powerful anti-cancer approach by

combining RC-3940-II and

MZ-J-7-118; Medline 15671527 (PROSTATE), 15754342 (PROSTATE).

C. Relative to S. , a retired (31 years) Middle School Librarian -

1999: posts The Cure for Cancer? (30 pages),

http://cures for cancer.ws/tac-cure.htm , to the Internet.

TAC is composed solely of Formaldehyde & L-cysteine. ' main idea is

that mega doses

(7,000 mg. daily should suffice) of vitamin C will neutralize the toxicity of

formaldehyde thus allowing

cancer victims to SWALLOW mega doses of TAC - maybe as much as a daily dose

of 40 mg/kg.

(about 3 grams). Dr. Gosalvez' patients swallowed only 5 mg/kg. of TAC daily.

In his subsequent research

discovers that TAC is the primary constituent in the Shiitake

mushroom. The Medical Advisor

published by TIME/LIFE states on page 1007: " ...And in both China and Japan,

shiitake mushrooms

have been used for hundreds of years as cancer-fighting agents. " (TIME/LIFE

was not aware of TAC.)

2001: Dr. Gosalvez July 20 letter to states: " ...I fully acknowledge

your important discovery

that mega doses of Vitamin C avoid the toxicity of oral TAC due to

neutralizing the formation of

formaldehyde, a strong neurotoxic... "

2001: discovers that the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) published

a report (Jong & Donovick)

in 1989 which says that the 'Type of activity' of many mushrooms (fungi) is

" Antitumor " . Particular

emphasis is given to extracts (primarily PSK & PSP) from the Coriolus

versicolor mushroom (page 238).

is astounded by doing research on the Internet to discover that PSK

is the world's best-selling

anti-cancer agent with annual sales of $600 million. PSK has been approved by

the Japanese Government

and is considered " an authorized drug " . It is ' understanding that PSK

is given as a matter

of course to every cancer patient in Japan. Medline reference is 2672723.

2005 - January 6: studies NCI report again and is astounded to discover

that the NCI also says

in its 1989 report that the Shiitake, Reishi and Maitake mushrooms are

anti-cancerous

('Type of activity' is " Antitumor " ; page 223); Shiitake is 'Lentinus edodes';

Reishi is 'Ganoderma lucidum';

Maitake is 'Grifola frondosa'.

2005 - May 21 & 22: discovers passages in Maitake Magic , ISBN

1-893910-19-9, that further

convinces him of the importance of vitamin C in cancer treatment -

Back cover - " MAITAKE IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE FOURTH THERAPY IN CANCER

TREATMENT -

after chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. In preliminary

government-sanctioned studies, prostate

and breast cancer patients given Maitake D-fraction have experienced

growth inhibition, symptom

release, tumor marker reduction, and immune enhancement. The more doctors

learn about

maitake mushroom, the more excited they become about its long-term health

benefits. Now,

with this new book by two of the world's leading maitake researchers, the

breakthroughs in the

study of maitake mushroom are available to everyone. "

Page 74 - 'Vitamin C Synergizes Maitake D-fraction' (j.s.r. - first a

definition - " Synergism -

the simultaneous action of separate agencies which, together, have

greater total effect than

the sum of their individual effects. " )

" Very recent discoveries have been made on combined use of

beta-1,3-D-glucan and vitamin C

derivatives. We now know that the vitamin C content in macrophages

reaches 40 times the level

of the nutrient in plasma. However, macrophages activated with

beta-1,3-D-glucan exhibit a

significant drop in their vitamin C content. This might lead to the

exhaustion of free-radical scavenging

capacity of these cells, as well as to impaired motility and certain

enzyme production by macrophages.

Fukumi Morishige, M.D., Ph.D., a renowned Japanese surgeon and a member

of the Linus ing

Insititute, Corvallis, Oregon, explains that taking small amounts of

vitamin C along with mushroom

supplements will facilitate absorption of polysaccharides and enhance

their effectiveness further.

Such increased absorption renders polysaccharides more accessible to

immune cells, including

macrophages and NK cells. Synergy with vitamin C was also demonstrated by

a study on

Maitake D-fraction-induced apoptosis in prostatic cancer PC-3 cells... "

If I, S. , had any sort of cancer I would not hesitate to start

SWALLOWING IMMEDIATELY

mega doses of vitamin C and mega doses of extracts from the Shiitake (TAC),

Coriolus versicolor (PSK & PSP), Reishi (Polysaccharides and Triterpenes)

and Maitake (D-fraction) mushrooms.

Post Script -

1. Although these mushrooms have not yet been classified as " Antitumor " by the

NCI -

AS IT DID FOR THE CORIOLUS VERSICOLOR, SHIITAKE, REISHI AND MAITAKE MUSHROOMS -

favorable anti-cancer reviews about them appear in Medline -

a. 15304151 - Agaricus blazei - " ...might be beneficial for gynecological

(women)

cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. " Also, a supplier calls this

mushroom

" Nature's Most Powerful Beta 1-6 Glucan. "

b. 15721201 -Cordyceps sinensis - Fraction R " ...selectively inhibited the

growth of

colorectal and hepatocellular (liver) cancer cells by the process of

apoptosis. "

2. PSK - a great buy for Americans - http://www.philsteinberg.com/byrec/43.html

-

" In Japan, where PSK is dispensed as an authorized drug, it is sold for

approximately

$1,000 per month at a dosage of 3 grams per day. As a US food product,

this same

monthly supply is sold for $149 retail... " Call 1-888-330-4691

3. TAC (98% pure) is sold in Milwaukee by Aldrich, 1-800-325-3010.

They call it L-4-Thiazolidinecarboxylic acid; product No. T27502-100G.

4. TAC is probably the best liver medicine in existence and is possibly the cure

(with vit. C) for hepatitis;

'L-acido tiazolidin-carbossilico in epatologia', Gazzetta Medica Italiana

, Volume 131,

N. 6 (Giugno 1972), pages 251 to 300. Available at Wayne State

University, Detroit, Michigan.

5. TAC's " chemical cousin " L-MTCA contains acetaldehyde which can inactivate

HIV, the AIDS virus,

according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NCI) and U.S.

Centers for Disease Control (CDC);

see The Cure for Cancer?

6. Medline 13376028 - Flax seed oil and cottage cheese should prove valuable in

cancer treatment;

see also http://www.cancure.org/budwig_diet.htm .

7. Magnesium/zinc/manganese should prove valuable in cancer treatment;

see page 27 of The Cure for Cancer?

8. The world should be indebted to the research of Dr. Shung-Chang Jong. He is

possibly the

world's leading authority knowing about the anti-cancer power inherent in

mushrooms.

Dr. Jong is employed by the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) which

has a close

working relationship with the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI). He is

the primary author

of the follwing research; refer to Medline -

a. 2672723 - This is the NCI publication which states that the 'Type

of activity' of the

Coriolus versicolor, Shiitake, Reishi and Maitake mushrooms is

" Antitumor " .

b. 1642155 - An ATCC publication that details the " antitumor " power of

the

Ganoderma (Reishi) mushroom.

c. 8213304 - An ATCC publication that details the anti-cancer power of

the Shiitake mushroom;

" ...can inhibit cancer in humans... " , " ...Remarkable life span

prolongation has been achieved

in patients with advanced and recurrent stomach, colorectal,

and breast cancer. "

Another publication of Dr. Jong's is not indexed in Medline; it is 'The

medicinal value of the mushroom

Grifola (Maitake)', MIRCEN J. Appl. Microbiol. Biotechnol. , 6:227-235, 1989.
