Re: Surgery to Remove Cancer

I opted not to have surgery or a biopsy. After seeing three surgeons and

getting three completely different opinions, I decided to deal with this on my

own. I have a lump on my neck. All three doctors assumed it to be cancer. It

got bigger between the time I had an ultrasound and the time I had an MRI, which

were spaced about a month apart. I have never felt sicker than when I was going

to see these doctors. I never felt sick prior to seeing them and having felt

sick since I stopped seeing them back in June. I have been using various

alternative methods and the lump is not even visible anymore, although I don't

think it's completely gone. I had my daughter to our primary doctor a few weeks

ago and he kind of caught me off guard and felt my neck and seemed okay with

what he felt. I didn't ask and he didn't seem alarmed, so that's good enough

for me. Here is an article that I read over and over that truly sums up my

feeling about what I am going through.

http://www.healingcancernaturally.com/lotharhirneise.html We all have to do

what we feel is in our own best interest. Last night my husband ran into a

friend he hasn't seen in a while. He asked where he's been and the friend said

his wife has cancer. It turns out she found a lump on her neck this year (just

like me) and had surgery. Two weeks later, the lump was twice as large as it'd

been before surgery. She's taking chemo and feeling awful. I, on the other

hand, run 2 1/2 miles 4-5 days a week and haven't had a single down day. Yes, I

have totally changed my life: my diet, my outlook, my activities, my beliefs,

etc. Do as much research as you can handle. Don't depend on the opinions of

doctors as to whether or not you should have surgery. Not one doctor told me

that I could shrink this lump myself by changing my life. All the best to you

in making the decision that is right for you and you alone. Blessings, Cheryl

I think that I speak for the entire list when I ask if you could share all

your changes/decisions and protocol with us. It might help save someone's life!

Thanks,

Dr. Issels used to take his cancer patients out on long walks in the mountain

air.

My opinion: If the cancer is one that is " encapsulated " with a protein

sheath, and has not already metastasized, then it is probably quite possible

to remove the tumor without spreading it. About 17 years ago my wife had a

tumor in her colon that was surgically removed, no chemo or radiation...with

no recurrence of this cancer.

However, a cancer that involves epithelial cells would be a different story.

My understanding of these types of tumors is that, due to the type of cell

(like skin cells), they will slough off easily and will therefore more

likely spread.

Also, wide enough " margins " need to be cut around the tumor.

I may be oversimplifying this, and there are most likely other factors

involved, but that is my " opinion " in a nutshell...

I would at least hesitate regarding the surgery, but, under the right

circumstances would do it. The chemo and radiation is another...much

different story....
