When you say you had measles are you certain it was the MEASLES or could it

have been german measles/rubella also known as 3 day measles. I had this as

a child and my mom would often refer to it as having " the measles " . Could

your mothers have told you the same thing and you possibly be mistaken?

There is a large difference between the two illnesses, and I would like to

be sure, for my own gathering of info as well as new folk who are on this

board, that the testimonials of having experienced " real " measles is

accurate. A confirmation would be most appreciated.

And thanks to all of you who have shared your experience --that you came

through just fine. (showing us how the medical community hypes up

Carolyn, I'm sure I had the " real " measles. In fact, I didn't think I had

ever had the german measles, but when I was in my early twenties and had to

get a rubella titer before I got married, found out I had, it was that mild.

I also had the mumps, not a very bad case of it. Bit of swollen glands, but

not much.

And of course the chicken pox. Don't recall that I ever had whooping cough

and don't know if I got the vaccine. I did get the polio vaccine, though,

but could already have " had " it. Knew a couple of kids who had been

partially crippled by it.

And the truth is, most people got polio and never even knew it. Like a mild

cold.

Virtually everyone got the measles in those days.

If you go to my website and look at my measles deaths graph, you can also

link to the CDC documents I used to make it. Multiply by 10 the number of

measles cases and you will see how many people got the measles each year.

My father is very sympathetic to this issue precisely because of all the

benign diseases they are vaccinating against, including both of the measles,

mumps, chicken pox, etc. He has a harder time with the polio issue, it was

quite bad for some, but the vaccination issue doesn't address why those very

few got a serious cases of the measles. Among other reasons, injections of

antibiotics and tonsillectomies were routine during those days, and they are

ACCEPTED as predisposing one to paralytic and/or bulbar polio.

It is true that rubella can be serious for the fetus if you get it at the

wrong time. But vaccination is no guarantee that you won't get it then,

carries serious risks (arthritis acknowledged). Prior to vaccination it was

recommended that you expose young girls to it, so you would be sure they got

it when it would be mild and most likely give lifelong immunity.

One of my sons got the MMR and the other one didn't (by 1986, I was

convinced not to do it). Both of them are going to have to know what to do

if they get the measles, so I'm starting to stockpile the necessary

supplements. Unfortunately, there is not a classical homeopath closer than

Seattle (1500 miles away by air). But I do have a naturopath who is good at

homeopathy, and am planning on connecting with someone " Outside " or in the

" lower 48 " (sorry, Hawaii!!).

I don't know about the rest but I am 51 years old and had measles (rubeola)

and rubella and scarlet fever and the lot!

EVERYONE I KNOW had measles - brothers, parents, cousins, all classmates!

NO ONE HAD ANY problems - no one died, no one had lasting damage. As an RN

working in a peds office in high school - no one worried about measles for

the most part. Yes complications can happen - but I NEVER saw one.

Mymother is a peds RN - graduated in 1948. She had NO FEARS of measles - I

asked her in the lasst few years.

You have all been programed with fear that is beyond REALITY of this

illness in such countries as the US and UK.

Your mother may have interchanged the words, but measles means hard measles

(rubeola) and most know the difference

Rubella was referred to as 3-Day-Measles. That was the common word in the

50's and 60's - always had 3-Day in front of it.

The other was often called red measles or hard measles or just measles

Yup I defiantely had measles as did most of my classmates much as Chicken pox

makes the rounds today.

I remember my eyes being extremely photosensitive and my father bringing me hot

dogs and 7-Up which I would promptly expel over the bedcovers within a couple of

minutes after ingesting.

Later when I worked in a hospital I was required to have blood tests. The

results showed I had never had German measles and it was suggested that if I

wanted children to have the immunization before pregnancy. So I had the jab.

I checked with my Mum two days ago and yes it was the ordinary measles I had.

Never had Rubella.

Best regards,

Sherri,

NO I dont know the link but my fantasy is already scaring me. I thought it was

just the amalgams.

Where do I find out about this ?

I had a tetanus shot two months before I conceived my daughter. Guess that wasnt

good. Give me some ammunition because I was going to call the doctor who gave me

that. It will just be fuel for the fire.
