Maybe cut out the cheese right off.Give some probiotics to help heal her

up.Maybe some red clover or calendula cream would help.Using cloth dipes?

Maybe a second or 3rd rinse on those.

Sorry nothing else comes to mind. And boy what a diet! I wish my dd still ate

all that kind of stuff :)

Kim, It's really been a long time, so please forgive me if I'm way off-base.

But are you using cloth or paper diapers?

very bad diaper rash, help.

hi list, I hope someone can give me some advice!

My 14 month old daughter has been getting a very bad diaper rash lately. at

the moment its terrible.

im going to list what she eats in the hopes that someone can work out what

is

perhaps not agreeing with her:

breakfast: breastmilk, fruit, soaked oatmeal and unsulphured molasses

mid morning - raw goat milk

lunch - cheese made from cultured aged raw cow milk, sardines in olive oil,

nutbutter (almond or cashew) on some rye bread and some raw veggies or

fruit,

or raisins

mid afternoon - breast milk and fruit (occaisonally she will have a tsp of

rice milk ice cream or fructose sweetened choc from someone who might be

eating it (wont mention any names!!) - today she had choc.

dinner - whatever we have - could be chicken (and often not organic) or soy

burger, cooked veggies, potatos or rice, some raw goat milk, maybe some

fruit

(last night we went out and she had chicken, guacomole, ordinary cheese and

tacos)

bed - goat milk and breastmilk

A while back she was having the boxed rice milk instead of raw goat milk

till

i found a good supplier - she got a really bad rash, so stopped the rice

milk

and it cleared up (too much sugar??). she has had 3-5 ounces goat milk per

day since wednesday last week, and been fine, and today (monday) rash is

terrible, very bright red. and sore when i change her.

any help would be appreciated.

Yes, im giving her those and last time she had it i gave her the probiotics

daily and she cleared, and then i stopped. so maybe she needs more probiotics

more regularly even without rash. she has a weakness there due to the

antibiotics in my drip after c-section (grrr) which wiped out all her

friendly bacteria (saw this in a stool sample)

Be careful with corn starch, if it's yeast they feed on it.

Hi Kim,

Given your answer to this comment, I would say almost with certainty that

the problem is thrush on your baby's bottom. We come across it often as

breastfeeding counsellors - mum gets it on nipples, baby gets it in mouth,

and on bottom. Thrush rash in the nappy area is significantly worse than

ordinary nappy rash. It usually presents as large, red, individual,

blistery spots which sometimes have a white centre to them. They look very

angry. The fact that you say she responds to probiotics almost confirms

thrush to me.

Can I comment on the nappy aspect? I have used disposable nappies (to my

shame and embarrassment) since my little girl was born and she has *never*

had a nappy rash from leaving a wee nappy on too long. They are made with

substances designed to draw the wee away from the bottom and keep it dry and

they have always worked for me, although given my time over again, there is

no way I would not use washable natural nappies. I think it might be an

issue with washable/cloth nappies, but it wouldn't be with disposables. The

other possibility is that your baby is allergic to one of the substances in

the nappies (is Silica a component?).

But I would definitely go back to the probiotics and keep using them until

it clears up and beyond. A very dilute solution of Citricidal may help the

rash - try it and see.

To anyone interested in the GSE debate, I have written to my UK supplier of

Citricidal and asked them to clarify the matter of the ingredients/parabens.

I will forward any reply I may get from them.

Love, light and peace,

Sue
