Guest guest
part of the time between bowel can depend on what he is being fed,,,, when my daughter was an infant and exclusively breastfed, her bowel movements could be 10 days or more apart which was not unsual.... once I started introducing solids, bowel movements became more frequent -------------- Original message -------------- From: " Amy " <amybarberi@...> Hi all. I lurk a lot but not as much as I'd like. I don't have much time w/ my 8 1/2 month old (Luke, DS). I wanted to ask about a couple of things. Luke has issues with constipation or infrequent bowel movements. We're going to start with some mineral oil in his food today to see if that can help. He also spits up A LOT so we may start him on some medicine to help with that if the mineral oil doesn't do the trick. Did anyone else have this issue w/ their infants? He's been seen by the Dr a couple of times. They did an xray yesterday to make sure his intestines are ok. Everything was fine. Also, have you noticed that your babies with DS have a high pain tolerance? I keep waiting for him to show signs of being in pain and he just never does. I'm hearing from a couple of friends that it may be a common trait in babies w/ DS. The poor guy went two weeks without a bowel movement and seemed as happy as can be. I'm of course not complaining about having a happy baby. He's a joy... but I just think it's good to be aware of so that I don't wait so long for him to show signs of pain/discomfort. Thanks in advance, Amy -mom to Luke 8.5 months DS
Guest guest
Hi Amy, Sam has always had trouble with constipation. I can only remember a handful of times we had a BM that wouldn't bounce off the wall without leaving a mark :-). We give him a cup of apple juice (diluted with water) a day and he seems to have at least on every other day. If we miss a day of juice, though, he goes without for a few days. I also remember having a lot of issues with spitting up. I thought it would get better when he was eating solids regularly, but that did not seem to help - He is now 3 and only spits up highly acidic foods or if he gets too much junk in a day. I could not speak for the pain tolerance - Sam cries at the mere thought of pain. If he sees someone else that is sad or hurt he will sit and cry with them. He will cry when reading " The Very hungry Caterpillar " at the part where he (the caterpillar) has a stomachache As far as I can tell he has never really hurt himself. Good luck. Guest guest
Our daughter had tons of constipation issues over the early years. We found a variety of things helped, namely keeping the hydration going (water, water, and more water - not always easy with little ones); a warm bath (believe it or not); good fiber in the diet (oatmeal); once potty trained I sang to her until she could have a BM (when I knew she needed to and was pretty ready); and when all else failed (our threshold was 3 days) a Babylax. I sincerely hated to give them to her, but they sure worked when she was just too bound up. She's now 12 and I cannot remember the last time we had to do anything more than make sure the water was getting drunk. Lots of luck. I'm sure this will resolve itself. Guest guest
Hi Amy, A nutritionist told me when my daughter was first diagnosed with celiac disease that Papaya Nectar (can be found in the health food section of most stores) is great for constipation. It is really high in digestive enzymes. It has been GREAT for us. I now watch a baby who was struggling with bowel problems and we started putting it in her bottles, her issues have resolves. I hope that helps! Maher nicjoe@... www.all4gals.blogspot.com
Guest guest
Hi all, some questions, I read MANY times that liver failure is the leading caus of death among people on ARVs. Is there a reference/s to back up this claim? Also, has there been any experiments of drawing blood from negative people and perform a VL test on them? Anything published? Thank you! Guest guest
Gracias por tu mensaje, tocayo! Yes, I didn´t mean something published in the literature but more like in a website or so. And about the liver failure, yep, of course. Those things are toxic = liver has a hard time = failure... Saludos!
