Guest guest
Another medical fact is that no test out there can truly detect the presence of HIV. How long have you been on HAART Doug Man? Why do you promote it so much? Guest guest
Hi Don, Before HAART there was Art, also known as monotherapy. I started on AZT in 1985 by protocol study. My doctor is on the faculty at NYU. NYU got one of the earliest studies for AZT and he got me into that study. In fact I was afraid to be known having HIV so I entered the study under an alias name which I thought was ingenious. That Phase 3 study for AZT got extended twice and ended up going on for almost seven years. I hit it off with one of the nurses at the study and am still friends with her today. She is very compassionate and brave and I am so fortunate to be her friend. That was the best medical care I ever received. It is interesting Don that you ask why I promote HAART so much. I know you guys are dead set against it. There are very unpleasant side effects from HAART. Although I have not heard about the extreme side effects you talk of, like liver failure, and kidney failure, I suppose they are possible. You would not make that up, but I think they are extreme and rare. For me, and I suspect for most, the side effects are simply unpleasant to nonexistant. ART (AZT) saved my life. Plain amd simple. The dose the study started me on was extremely high, 1200mgday (DOT) I had no noticeable side effects from it and it gave my virus a zinger that it took years for the virus to recover from. I have far more side effects from Protease Inhibitors than I ever had from AZT. I promote it because here it is 2011 and I am going strong relatively healthy and doing well. Who would not promote something like that? You promote colloidal silver and all the other stuff you take I presume for the same reason. For you it appears to work and you are surviving well on it. I am glad for you. For me, by medical advice, I chose the scientific way which means HAART. One more thing. I worked to get ART, HAART, White Funding, and all of what PWA'S enjoy today. These were not gifts from the government to meet the AIDS health crisis. The government did not care about the AIDS health crisis or the people dying from it. In fact the president in office at that time was Regan. He refused to even say the word AIDS and he went to the grave not saying it or doing anything to stop the epidemic. His predecessor, Bush Sr. was forced to take action and only reluctantly did so. He allocated money and directed the NIH to do research. Soon after AZT was invented and it saved many lives. Mine was one of them. This was years before the White Fund was invented and they started testing the nation's blood supply. Testing the nation's blood supply was another night mare that could have, and should have, started long before it did. They only test donated blood today because they were forced to and the Red Cross put up great opposition to not test the blood they collected. Many lives would have been saved . Imagine going to the hospital., getting a blood transfusion., and coming out with AIDS. That is exactly what was happening to many people. We had to force them to test the blood. It took many years and law suits for them to actually start to do it. I think it was 1991 when it became law that they HAD to test any blood they collected. Even though there are problems with it I believe HAART is a good thing that we worked very hard to get. It was not a gift and is still under threat today. If the Republicans could cancel White and funding for AIDS they would. Guest guest
Hmmm quite a different story from what I remember you saying some time ago... When you said 'I spend most of my day on the couch, as I dont have the energy to get up.' Half of those people in the early studies were on placebos, personally I think you might have been in the lucky group. Anyway, as far as this group goes, if you read the homepage, It is for discussing alternative treatments. You are fortunate there is no moderator, but if you had any decency you would butt out. We cannot go to your groups ie Aidstruth, the body, etc etc and mention anything about alternative treatments. ________________________________ From: DOUG MAN <dougman1@...> cures for AIDS Sent: Tue, 17 May, 2011 7:42:12 AM Subject: Re: New Drug for HIV Hi Don, Before HAART there was Art, also known as monotherapy. Guest guest
It is Spring. I have lots of energy. Depression comes and goes. A while back I asked this group about depression. It is a common problem for many here. For other groups and web sites to not allow conversation about alternative treatments is just wrong! I have always said we need everything we can get to fight this virus. Maybe I am fortunate this group has no moderator. We are all better off for that because we can discuss anything here including both alternative treatments and non alternative. I have met both here and it is a good thing. There are some very good people in this group and we all help eachother. Guest guest
I don't mind hearing both sides of the issue altho I can see how many would be offended by Doug's posts. Â They don't bother me at all. Â The only time Doug really bothered me is when he made a few vulgar posts in the past but he was telling jokes to make us laugh. Â I just didn't like the language, lol. Â I do believe that Doug is sincere and I do believe that he feels that dissidents are dangerous or playing with fire. Â I have been researching alternative treatments for almost 5 years now- since my diagnosis. Â So far my conclusion is that alternative treatments do indeed help in several cases but they don't hold the virus down to low enough quantities. Â I do believe in HIV and I do believe it causes AIDS. Â Took me a while to say that but I am saying it. Â Year after year I have heard of AIDS dissidents dying. Â Then I look at the videos where they are literally preaching the gospel that HIV does not cause AIDS and how it's all a scam. Â Today those people are dead. Emery was a member on poz.com and those people did not agree with his views but I do feel that they loved and cared for him. Â They told him that he was on a dangerous path by not taking the drugs and ignoring his lab results but he insisted that he was healthy and that the numbers meant nothing to him. Â Now today, a year after he posted his YouTube videos, Emery is dead! Â I look at Emery as tho HE is ME. Â At this point, I am not on HIV meds, I do not go to the doctor to monitor my labs, and I am afraid of the physical effects both internal and external of the HIV drugs. Â So far regular use of colloidal silver has appeared to save my life and make me feel great but what it's doing to the virus, if anything, I will have to find out soon. After a few years of weighing the longevity of life among HIV positives, I am coming to a conclusion that those on HIV meds are living longer, having better lab results, AND are having some pretty bad side effects many of which can be noticed by the naked eye. Â Yet- they ARE living longer in comparison. Â I'm just going by my own gatherings and interviews of people both off and online. Â I do not hear " often " that many are living just fine 15+ years after they've been positive and NOT taking meds. Â I hear MORE that people are living 15+ years ON meds. Â We really have to be honest with ourselves and ask ourselves who's really getting the long term LIFE results? Â I asked quite a few times in this group: Who has been positive 10+ years, healthy, and not on meds? Â I only heard from one person via a personal email. Â I don't want to be like my internet " idols, " , Karri, and Emery, and gone too soon if it's really true that ARVs save lives. Â Someone's going to always say something in favor of ARVs and someone's gonna always say something against it but the question is: Â What is the truth? Â What are the statistics? Â Who is really living longer? Â Those on HIV meds or those not on HIV meds? Â I think this is the underlying message of all of Don's posts. Â Many will hate all of what I've said but I am just being honest on what I am seeing and feeling. Â I plan on researching the effects of the newer class of HIV drugs both in and outside of the body and I plan on meeting people who have been on meds for the past 5+ years and see how they are looking, how they are doing, etc. Â If I am convinced, I may be on meds within the next year. Â I can wait like Emery and die when it could have been prevented. Â Emery tried to take Atripla at the last minute but it was too late. Guest guest
It happens. It is not frequent but if you doubt the results there is no harm in doing a test again. Especially with HIV because the oraquick test is so easy and fast. Guest guest
Very high, they are very quick to diagnose anybody who fall in the " risk " category because NO TEST ever tests FOR THE PRESENCE OF HIV!!! It's a plain and simple fact. Every test comes with a disclaimer stating this. You first have to go through a series of tests before you should get diagnosed but most places skip those tests and go straight for the diagnosis. A positive response to an HIV test can mean a list of things it doesn't mean HIV. Perhaps some people are infected, but other are not! I believe it's those who have died from the drugs. > > From: DOUG MAN <dougman1@...> > Subject: Re: New Drug for HIV > cures for AIDS > Date: Saturday, May 14, 2011, 2:02 PM > > Being on any of the antiviral (HAART) prevents, actually greatly reduces the chance of spreading the virus.
