Guest guest
Hi Marc, NO! A lot of people here have stopped meds but none of them have zero viral load. In fact one cannot tell if their viral load is zero because the test only registers to 22. Beyond that it simply says undetectable. So no one's viral load is zero. Being healthy is a relative thing also. That is why my doctor told me treating HIV is " uncharted waters " . People tell you what they perceive, which may not be the way you perceive it. For instance, many people here speak of how they feel (which changes often throughout the day) then they state their T cell and viral load and I am horrified at the numbers. If my numbers were like theirs I'd be in a panic. They seam to be ok with it. God bless them. All of it is relative. It sounds like you are looking for something more concrete. Sorry the truth is, this is " uncharted waters " . Anyone here with Zero Cd4 but still alive & healthy? Hi , have anyone here stopped meds Reached zero cd4 count but still alive and Healthy? Guest guest
Thanks Nokusa, I missed that. If a person has zero T cells that means they have NO immune system, zero. Have you seen the movie " Boy in a Bubble " ? It was about a boy born with no immune system. He had to stay in a completely sterile environment. I think such would be true of one with zero T cells. One could be healthy that way until an opportunistic infection comes along. That is why they are called opportunistic. They wait for one's immunity to be impaired and then they strike. Guest guest
One thing confuses me about the CD4s, I have now seen doctors being more concerned with the % than the total count. Apparently a " healthy " or " non-aids " count would be 20%. I did in different occasions get a 10% count but the totals were very different, something like 130 and 180. But the doc said that the 10% was what mattered... Then again, I heard several stories of people living with 1 CD4 and at a lab I recently asked a technician and she mentioned a guy who would " always get a 2% count " and he looked great... Go figure. More importantly, Can anyone point out a good piece of paper showing how the CD4s are meaningless to address someone´s health? I think the Perth Group touched on that, no? saludos, juan Ps, remember a month or two ago I had blood drawn at two labs on the same morning and had 5% and 8.4%... From now on I will take two samples of blood at two different labs every time I get a blood work...
Guest guest
Well CD4 has really never mattered. Like it was mentioned in House of Numbers, this was all based on assumption not science. Their house of numbers is always collapsing or changing. As we have seen in many cases, people are in the worse shape of their lives yet their numbers a no where near the below 200 to be considered " AIDS " as it is in the case of (the story I shared) is still hanging on but is in bad shape and with T-cells over 200. In other cases people have died of AIDS and had their T-Cells high. It also depends on the doctor too. The man we saw a story on that was thought to have had HIV for a long time when in face didn't have the " virus " his doctor told him not to take meds yet because of his low viral load. My doctor on the other hand didn't look at viral load to determine when it was good to get on medications, he looked at T-cells. so it depends on the doctor as well.
