Guest guest
Dear Don, don't put words in my mouth.  I never used Karri and Emery as " poster childs " for the dissident movement but let's remember, they did put themselves out there to be noticed by the freakin' internet as survivors of HIV who don't take meds.  I did read a blog where Emery posted that he was taking an alternative approach to keep himself healthy.  I can't remember exactly what he was taking but my point is that he was doing " something. "  Ok but he's gone now.  End of story.  Also, it has NOT been only 1 death out of 5000 that has " brought me down. "  I have lost a cousin to AIDS and he did not take HIV meds.  My 1st boyfriend's roommate died of AIDS.  So you watch your feisty attitude cause I got one too and frankly, it is not needed.  You can still make a point and be nice in the process.  I don't talk to you in a nasty attitude whether I agree with you or not and I expect the same in return.  Is that too much to ask for?  After all, don't we all want the best for eachother in this group? I will say this tho about Emery:  He may have only survived 12 years after his diagnosis but he looked great all those years.  Look on YouTube where he posted videos a little less than a year before he died.  He looked so healthy.  No lipodystrophy (major loss of fat in face, cheeks), no buffalo hump, no bulged-out belly,  or skin so thin you could see his veins as you do in people who take meds.  That's my biggest fear of the meds and that's why I haven't taken them as of  yet.  In some ways, I think I'd rather be Emery and only live 12 years after my diagnosis, look healthy and normal, rather than live 20+ years looking like the living dead and embarrassed to go outside because people can see AIDS all over your face and body due to the damage and toxicity of the drugs. Guest guest
Well Randall you have said it all here. Taking meds or not is a personal decision that each of us must make. Once we get the virus we must decide what we are going to do. Doing nothing is a decision to do nothing. We each pay the price for our decisions. Like it or not this is true. Guest guest
Only God the creator who knows about death. Emery and Karri were going to die anyway whether they took meds or not just like all of us. Whether we take meds or not when its time to die no one will stop that even doctors can't do that. Let Emery and Karri's soul rest in peace. Death is all over us. In South Africa motor vehicle accidents are claiming millions of lives every year but no one talk about that they talk about Hiv/Aids because it suits them. All what we should remove in our minds is fear of unknown. As for me I rather face death than going back to meds. If i die it will be not because of quitting meds but I would say its my time. I read the magazine about the lady from Zambia she has never been on meds since 1985 and still alive and beautiful. We can never stop death let's face it! Let's continue the fight let not death scare us. People are dying in numbers whether they Hiv Poz or not. Look at natural disasters that claims millions of lives every time. We are all gonna die!
