Message about Food Stamps

If any of you are on Food Stamps and you lost power during hurricane Irene I

want you to know you can get an additional month of food stamps to replace food

you lost due to the power outage you had. Call your local DSS office and tell

them your power was out most of the day, or however long it was, because of the

storm. Some people still don't have power. They will send you a form to complete

asking what food got spoiled. Be sure you list perishable foods only and an

amount more than a months worth of stamps that you get. DSS does not care if you

eat shrimp, filet mignon, or hamburger. You have 10 days to get the form back to

DSS. Remember, this is your tax dollars at work. Be sure you file the form.
