Guest guest
Hi all, I live in the Philippines, where I found out 6 mos. ago I was HIV/HCV +. My lover here, Filipino, dealt with the news quite well, even tho it's not a common disease in the provinces where we live. I'm retired, and he's in school, and I have trouble keeping busy and occupied enough through long days! I guess I got it in Manila a couple years ago or more. I thought the PH was safer, as there wasn't a lot of HIV here then. Still not a lot, really, but spreading. Right now I'm on ARV's and am taking a 3-week dose of MMS, 8 to 10 times a day, which has sapped some of my energy. My German neighbor and I take walks every few day (I walk some every day) BTW, Global Fund paid for ARV's thru Dec. 2012, so I got in under that program, thank God! I have dealt with the news of being poz quite well, actually. Not surprised, as I was noticing weird little things like skin infections from gardening, etc., some neuropathy (perhaps from heart meds?) in the recent past, ear infections. All very uncommon for me. But I'm better, after 5 mos. on the meds. I also eat quite well, but could get more exercise, I know, but right now I'm in a rut of inaction. perhaps its the MMS that is making me a little tired (been on it for about 10 days now. I am concerned about the effect of HCV. Dr. here says one of my meds is supposed to be helping that, but then they follow a govt. protocol and offer only certain meds. I'm on Lamivudine/Stavudine (I know they're older meds) and Efavirenz. I couldn't at this point afford other meds. I also, when I have money, take ALA, Selenium and Silymarin, recommended by many HCVers via Dr. Berkson in New Mexico. I could use people to talk to. There are only a couple of poz guys on this island who I know, but so far only once have we gotten together. I need to pursue that more. Just chatting, sorry, spending time, so if you got this far, thanks! Cheers and be well! We're in an elite society, don't you think?
