Guest guest
Pictures like that my friends are sometimes why I want to blow my head off.  All of us are afraid to look like that and be in that position of great suffering.  Many of us here are stuck wondering if the drugs really do bring long term benefits or do their side effects bring on what seems to be the very symptoms of AIDS.  I wonder if that guy was taking antivirals?  That was in 1990 which was a period was too much AZT was given to masses and killed them.  God bless us all and I hope we find that peace of mind we are looking for.  It is very scary.  Sometimes I sit and get scared shitless. Guest guest
I would bet my last dollar he was on AZT. I didn't mean it to scare anyone. Personally, I do not identify with those pictures in the sense that I'm afraid it will happen to me. I do believe that it may have been a possibility had I not decided a long time ago to take my health into my own hands.  Not sure if you all know who nne on is, but I think that she is an amazing, compassionate and connected human being. She has been very involved in AIDS work and was in Los Angeles when it all first went down. I have an mp3 of her speaking about AIDS and it may present it to you in a different light. If anyone wants it, I will email it to you. Unfortunately, we can't put attachments on the list serve. Guest guest
Pray that the cure for Aids will be out soon.. I heard the States has developed new medicines that can cure Aids and Patients had volunteered to test if the new drug works to cure Aids.. Pray hard to God to have mercy on suffering Aids victims.. Guest guest
I'm not gonna lie, I worry about it but I also worry about taking the meds too. Â If you read the warnings that come with the meds, it's kinda scary either way. Guest guest
when you read the label you have to wonder is it worth the risk getting diabetes, kidney problems, constipation, blurry vision, headaches all day long, nausea, no taste, tired, sleepy and many others... fix one thing ruin 10 others, and no counting the psychological effect. Meds are no worthy for me. I tried the ovile leave, the stralagus, cat's claws and others at the same time but my cd4 decrease and the viral load increase over the 4 months period I took the supplements, but i can tell you that during that time I did not get even one cold. Guest guest
Ahhh ok Marc... I asked how long you been positive because we are the same age.  I was diagnosed 4 years ago.  Basically, 4 years before I seroconverted to positive I was exposed to high amounts of black mold where I was living and was under alot of stress.  I became very ill with chronic upper respiratory infections.  So far my health problems are the same as they were long before I was positive.  I still look healthy and normal but I'm sure if I had've taken the meds that my face would probably be sunken in by now.  I drink 4 cups of green tea a day which has alot of antioxidants in it and I also use colloidal silver, take a multivitamin daily, and use a daily probiotic which makes a huge difference in my overall health.  I'm thinking about going back on selenium too. You are apart of great group here Marc that can give you alot of great ideas and perspective.  We're glad you're here. Guest guest
Randall,  It's very interesting that you were sick from mold before you tested positive.  I think everyone in this group needs to behave like a private investigator and really look at their lifestyle, their home, their office...everywhere to see if there is something that is compromising their health. I would love to find sick people all over the world and get their a tcell count and a viral load and I think we would find that many, many people have lower tcell counts and a " viral load " without being HIV positive. Mold can make people very, very sick. And there are many, many different things that make an HIV test turn positive...things that have nothing to do with " HIV. "  A few IV ozone treatments would knock that stuff right out of your lungs, by the way...  . > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: <luvtheozone@...> > > > > > > > > > Subject: Historic AIDS photos > > > > > > > > > cures for AIDS > > > > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 12:59 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I was just on and ran across these photos. Guest guest
When you are on the meds, yes you will decrease the viral load and the chances of developing the other health problems that comes with this infection, and will increase your CD4 which will also help in a sense but all those side effects and the kidney problems, diabetes, nausas, depression, constipation and list goes on.... is it worthy, well it is an individual desicion to make. I did but it was not worthy for me. I can't handle the effects. I am in a lot of pain on my right side and went to the doctor yesterday and gave me vicodin but it did not do anything for me, so I went today and he said I have the shingles, I did not know what it was, I know now, and he told me it will get worse. Have anyone had this, how did you manage to deal with this? I don't know what to do, i am in so much pain. Guest guest
Eva, I do not know what the guys here will tell you. The treatment for shingles is Valtrex, Famvir, or Acyclovir. They are all the same medicine with slight variations that make them absorb better in the body. The best absorbed is Famvir. That is why the dose for Famvir is twice @ day. The dose for Valtrex is 3 times @ day, while the dose for Acyclovir is 5 times @ day. For the pain that goes along with shingles I recommend Ibuprophen, unless you want to get into narcotic pain meds your doctor can prescribe. The standard dose is 400mg (two pills). I had a neurologist tell me you can safely take up to 800mg (four pills) at once but only 3 times @ day. For extreme pain, like shingles might give, I would say try the two pills and if it still hurts bad take another two. BTW, it takes one to two MONTHS to recover from shingles. In severe cases the body pains can linger for 4 to 5 months. Good luck. Shingles is an autoimmune disorder that often is one of the first indications something is wrong with the immune system. When I tested positive for HIV my doctor was not surprised because I had chronically swollen glands and I had a bought of shingles. Those two things together told him something was wrong with my immune system. Guest guest
That is true Marc. Taking meds is a personal decision. You would be surprised to find out how many people do not like their lives, living, or even themselves. That is why self destructive behavior and suicide are such an epidemic. Taking medicine that will improve their quality of life and prolong their life is unthinkable because they do not like life in the first place. Guest guest
Ok mark a dr can't tell you how long you've been positive. And no you can't ask us if you should or shouldn't be on meds. Only you can answer that we can give our opinion on drugs and about our own health but we can't tell you what's right for you. Those who do are pushing an agenda and don't give a rats ass about you the person. My thought if it was me. If I'd just started mess I would not start and stop without a reason. Starting stopping and starting again can't be good for a person. I'd see what happens. You'll know if u need to come off them or if they really are helping. To me more than the drug question is to learn your body. Learn this virus and learn what works for you. My numbers bounce around wildly from time to time don't let that freak you out. Its hard but try and relax. You are not going to die tommorow! Live your life!!! You are married to this virus now but don't let it hen peck you. Take control and learn to feel comfortable being in charge. Challenge your drs challenge us with what we say. Decide how you want to live and what battles your ready to take on with your treatment be that traditional or alternative.. Guest guest
The question should be, do you want to stop taking meds? Many of the guys here would say you never should have started taking meds. How long have you been on meds now? What side effects, if any, do you currently have? If your side effects are minimal and/or something you can live with I suggest you stay on meds. What have you got to loose? Guest guest
I actually agree with you Doug. Now that he's started them he should give them a try and see how he handles them and at least give them a chance to work on improving his numbers. In the mean time I'd learn as much as I could and really start taking care of my body. Don't let the drugs be a crutch and think because your on them that's all you need to do. People take a break from their meds all the time. Learn what you want to try when you do come off them. I don't believe a dr can tell you with any certianty you'd be dead in 3 years without med. All of us are different, hell all of our viruses are different. Personally I think the cofactors in our life play a huge part in determining our health.
