Guest guest
You're probably like I was for the last three years or so. That's when the foam started a bit, and the burping up stuff occasionally. I could still swallow fine, and about a year and a half ago I started noticing the first trouble swallowing steak and such, but every thing else was ok, and it wasn't all the time. I did not develop a megaesophagus, and I waited 5 months to have my surgery from when my symptoms finally started to be constant swallowing problems. I was worried that my esophagus would be stretched out, but it wasn't. I knew that I wanted surgery as soon as possible, though after diagnosis, but my swallowing was bad by then. I think I would just keep an eye on it and do it when you start to have trouble with swallowing more.
Guest guest
Pierre, Hello, I recently joined this group. Seems we have people in the group on all ends of the spectrum. Some so with symptoms so severe they can hardly eat and some with barley any symptoms at all. If I knew I had Achalasia, but had few symptoms I would keep in close contact with my doc. I have a yearly Endoscope just to make sure things are ok. The other thing I would do is look for alternative therapies. I don't know if you have seen any of the information posted about L-Arginine, but if I were you I would try it. It has helped me greatly. I have has no muscle spasms, reflux, or real swallowing problems of note when I take it regularly. Since I have had 3 surgeries this is a major breakthrough for me. You can search the archives about Arginine and find lots of good information. J.C. Guest guest
Pierre, I am in a similar situation where I can pretty much get anything down with lots of water. I had a dilatation last year and it helped a lot and now I am trying to decide whether to get the surgery or not in the near future or to wait, since I can eat everything without too much trouble. I have been asking the same questions of everyone and no one can seem to give me a confident answer. Doctors seem to say that they don't know if and when the conditions will worsen. A surgeon with whom I met said that as far as he knows there is no consequence to waiting to get the surgery but that I might as well get it now so that I don't need to drink 8 glasses of water to get my food down and maybe my acid reflux issues will get better, etc. It seems like a quality of life issue to me. I'm also starting to look into the natural supplements that people have mentioned to help with the swallowing and acid reflux. The stomach burning and spasms are my main problem since the dilatation. I asked my doctor about trying Arginine and he said that it couldn't hurt. Anyway, I think it's really up to you (as everyone has been telling me) and what you are comfortable with. Since neither the dilatation or the surgery is a guaranteed " cure, " if your conditions aren't too bad then maybe you don't need to rush into anything.....but who knows. It's just another opinion. -- >From: " pierre362001 " <pierre.ducroit@...> >Reply-achalasia >achalasia >Subject: HELLO AGAIN! >Date: Fri, 04 Jan 2002 03:33:35 -0000 > >Dear friends, its your french friend from mexico again. >hope you all have a nice time this holidays. >i just wanted to post some comments to have somme feedback. >i was diagnosed with acahlasia 4 years ago but i ca still eat allmost >normally,i mean steaks fries everything.Sometimes i have a kind of >reflux of liquid that i have drink and sometimes a little bit of foam. >my main problem here is:do i have to go thru a dialion,or surgery if >my symptoms arent so bad? >i am afraid that i ca developpe a megaoesophagus, can i if i still >swallow the food? >what would you do if you ca still eat allmost normally? >thanks again >yours >Pierre > _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. Guest guest
Hello again to the group. This is 's Mom. I have been reading away but too overwhelmed with day to day to respond. We are preparing for a major job and location change, and my DH has been gone for several months. It is amazing to read about all the ideas and problems. When I last posted, had been diagnosed by a neurologist, and put on Luvox. Then we had the IEP. They were SO rude! They had never seen a Downs child with autism, and did not believe it. They have brought in a team to evaluate him. Mind you, they have not looked at his medical records, talked with us or his teacher. And my DH is a pediatrician! It is a joke. The Luvox has been a disaster. As the dose has built up, has lost all his inhibitions. Yes, he is trying to talk, but now he is noncompliant. He is not the behavior problem that a lot of you have, he just gets a mind set. He does not light fires any more, but now he breaks into the neighbors homes to watch their videos. Can you imagine how well that will go over in a new neighborhood! And he thinks he can drive. So far he has not matched up the correct key with the vehicle -- we have 6 cars. Now we are desperately trying to keep all keys hidden. Our biggest concern is his growing awareness of being a man. At 13, he is in full blown puberty. He has three little sisters, and our 11 yr. old also has down syndrome. With puberty hitting her, she is not complaining about 's attentions. When we move, we are going to have to look for some out of home options. I love our son so much, but he is a danger to himself and others. He needs 24 hour supervision and routine. I cannot provide what he needs. I would like the same type program that I read about -- home on the weekends. Sorry this is so long. Congratulations on all the birthdays and battles won. Continue the work. Take care, ~Lynn from the Geddie Zoo

Guest guest
Thanks Becky and sounds like great success starting already Hang in there Blessings R Hello again! Hello again, everyone! Just wanted to say thank you to those who shared their exercises with me and gave me some real encouragement. I really appreciate it! I'm still doing just Lifelift, alternating between workout #1 and #2 each day. I've noticed that usually when I'm at school, I start thinking how I can't wait to get home to do my Lifelift workout, so I truly believe I'm hooked, and I really don't think I want to add any traditional exercise just yet, if ever! I'm planning on measuring myself again on Feb. 3rd because the last time I measured was Jan. 3rd, so I wouldn't mind seeing what changes I've made in a month. I feel a little more tightened and toned each day, so I know it's working! I've especially noticed a nice difference in my thigh/hip/butt area. My thighs feel so smooth, and my arms are starting to look more like they are one piece instead of arms with flippy-flappy hangy-do attached! I've also noticed my chest has more of a cleavage look, which I don't mind at all having always been an A cup. Gosh, the benefits are just amazing! Well, I better get back to studying, but I just wanted to say even though I rarely post, I'm always checking the board and seeing the wonderful results of my fellow Lifelifters. I'm very proud of you all! Happy Birthday to Jenni, and Congratulations to for a great Dr's report! Have a wonderful evening, ladies! Love, Becky What can changing the way you breathe do for you? Guest guest
Hi Bonnie! Yes, I do plan to post my measurement changes. I can't wait to see if the numbers have changed. Even if they haven't, I'm being patient enough to where I love Lifelift so much, the numbers don't even matter. I know it takes time, and I know it's worth the wait! I only measured my waist and hips last month. Those are about the only things I can measure on myself and get a pretty accurate measurement, so I didn't try measuring arms, thighs, calves, etc. I also hopped on the scale, but I know from my experience with BodyFlex in the past, I lost very few lbs. and a whole lot of inches, so I'm not too concerned about the scale. Mine's an old junker klunker anyway, so I should just toss it. LOL! As for college, I'm planning to graduate this December with a B.S. in Sociology. I graduated from HS in 2000, and I'm really getting sick of school! LOL! School seems to stress me out more and more each year, which I think is a big reason why I've piled on the pounds these past few years...but Lifelift sure is making me feel so much better! I've changed my major quite a few times, but I'm happy with Sociology. It requires a lot of reading, but it's very interesting! Have a wonderful day! Becky > Hi Becky, > > You're doing GREAT! Guest guest
Hi Becky, Congratulations on being so close to graduation! Some words of advice (for what they're worth - LOL!) -- make sure that your field is hiring, and that you have a job lined up! Look at the hiring patterns in your field of expertise, and tweak your courses to be more " hirable " ! I have no experience with sociology, but I imagine that you'll be looking at gov't jobs? They take a while to get into.... My daughter got a degree in criminal justice last year (magna cum laude, second degree, she had a degree in graphics arts and, because of wrist damage, had to retrain), got a really lousy desperation-type job (at $8/hour with split hours, etc.), lost it, then finally got the job of her dreams a month or so ago (asst. county clerk) -- lots of looking and working at it, she and her husband just about collapsed financially (if it hadn't been for Mom and step-Dad, they would have....). And my son got a Ph.D. in chemistry in August -- has been looking hard, no job yet -- he's now looking into getting a post-doc; if he can get one, hopefully it will lead to full-time employment (and he graduated cum laude, then had a full fellowship)... Not trying to be discouraging, but this is what I've learned watching them struggle. When I graduated from college (B.S. in chemistry, 1966) I had 34 job offers!!! Times have certainly changed! You kids have a lot rougher time getting started than we did. Guest guest
Aww, Rashelle...thank you so much for your kind words! That means so much to me and makes me even more inspired to continue LifeLifting. I just finished Workout #2 a few minutes ago! Yesterday was my " rest day, " and it's amazing how different I feel today after LifeLift than yesterday without any exercise. So, that really makes it obvious to me that LifeLift is definitely very potent. No matter how many inches or pounds I lose, I love it too much not do it! My birthday is coming up next month, and so when my mother asks me what I want for my birthday, I've gotta tell her that I want the other LifeLift videos to complete my set!
