I have read you message with great interest and I see the point your are making

concerning due diligence when posting information health topics.

I am just wondering whether is worth adoption a Disclaimer like the one below

for our person use with modification.

The disclaimer sort of contradicts what is said in general. Advice is usually

to ignore medical advice and use a cure available on the internet.

It is a good idea. I have sometimes put a disclaimer on my posts if I feel

uncomfortable about anything I have written. However, nothing is iron clad It

could cause people to speak more freely, as though they are safe. If you then

feel free to recommend going off medication, and this is ever, God forbid, taken

to court as evidence against you all it takes is the prosecutor to discredit the

disclaimer or for the court to dismiss it as protection. It " shouldn't " happen,

and probably wouldn't happen, I just don't want to take that risk.

The disclaimer should be used if ever strong advice is used, especially by a

health professional of any sort, including doctors (who are more likely to use

much more caution than that anyway, they are trained to).

I also say " what I would do " , and do not even suggest what another should do.

What someone else does is their business, I am not going to recommend ANYTHING

to ANYONE. But I can tell them what others have had success with, and I can

tell them what I would do. That cannot be held against me. I can also give

links to information, and give information as I know it to be. Those who are

ready for such info will find themselves drawn to it without me having to do

anything more than that. :)

It is a sticky situation, but one that is unlikely to ever be an actual problem

and perhaps worth the risk for most, esp those who are not in the health

industry.

I would think the disclaimer would need to state that no one posting

is giving medical advice, that all posts fall under the freedom of

speech, and that each individual must research on their own and form

their own opinion of what is best for their own health. Apparently

there is a moderator since we just got several posts this morning that

were written in December--I would think the moderator could easily add

such a disclaimer as an automatic part of every post that comes through.
