Thank you! I definitely DO NOT like the idea of meds; I'm just afraid

I'll be " cajoled " by my doctor (dont' really know him personally).

This is a very frightening thing for me as you can imagine, mixed with

paranoia and guilt all combined into one emotion. Perhaps I ought to

seek a Naturopathic doctor, (or both?).

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey, Marco. I have been positive for at least 23 years -- most of that

time without using meds. My newest medical regimen has kept me with an

extremely low viral load. Having researched (for years and years) the

thought on whether HIV causes the problem, I am convinced it does. My

opinion, only, and I tend toward questioning of current medical thought

-- always. I have refused to use AZT (retrovir), as I have a strong

antipathy toward that particular medicine. My partner and I use a few

herbs, we use DC-electricity, we have used medical ozone (my partner

built a medical ozone machine for under $200.) I have cured myself of

genital warts (condyloma - sp?), cryptococcal meningitis, thrush, fever

that spiked daily to 105, shingles, -- I could go on and on. Most of

the time we can cure things with echinacea alone. My partner talked to

a leading expert on herbs in Italy to find out the toxic level of

echinacea and I understood that doctor to say there was zero toxicity at

any level (please do not take this as advice -- simply my understanding)

so I took high doses of echinacea for 45 days (blending one whole plant

with water every day, straining it through a cloth and drinking it) and

cured my cryptococcus (which my doctor hated admitting, but he finally

did an antigen test and it proved that I no longer had crypto anywhere

in my system; so he sent for my blood work to prove I had never HAD it

-- it proved I HAD.) This disease demands some attention, but honestly

I get tired of people asking (in that tone of voice), " How are you

FEEling? " We live normal lives. My partner and I take precautions, but

nothing extreme, and he is still negative after 19 years together.

The only thing I worry about is your platelets. If your gums are

bleeding a lot, that could be a problem. I lost all my platelets and

started bleeding mouthsful of blood from my gums. They gave me

prednisone at the hospital (which I believe was likely the cause of my

subsequent stroke). I used the ozone machine to not only obliterate the

ensuing high spiking fever, but also to normalize my platelets. My

partner has a hematologist friend who told him my platelets would never

be normal again. Wrong! Following a short period of daily rectal ozone

(5 minutes -- 6 times a day for about a week, and then 3 times a day for

maybe 2 weeks, then another week or two maybe once a day), my 90-day

spiking fever left for good and my platelets were normal normal normal.

They tell me I may be the longest-term survivor of this stuff . I don't

know -- maybe so. (I've had it since '83 -- possibly '81 and maybe even

'79 -- bad things always happened on odd years.) I'm healthy, happy, and

generally don't worry about dying. We'll all do that one day, and I

don't think anybody goes before their time. Maybe I'm wrong, but I

don't think so. We have listened to our doctors, but neither my partner

nor I takes their word as gospel. One of them wanted me to go into a

trial and told me right up front that I would die, but " you will do so

much good for the people who come after you. " My partner stood up, said

a couple of well-chosen expletives to the doctor, turned to me and said,

" Are you ready to go? " We never went back to that doctor. Another TWO

doctors tried to force me to take AZT, and I told them where to get off.

I have had some wonderful doctors who worked WITH me, but they all

understood that the reason I am still alive is more because of the

decisions I made -- not decisions made by the medical establishment.

My only purpose in writing to you is to encourage. I'm no genius. If I

can survive this long, you can, too. Be careful the voices you listen

to.
