HI :)

Sometimes on the list we vent about our current situations, venting can bring

results ;) I'm sure will walk away with lots of insight on what to do

next. When we vent about a teacher, aide DR etc....... we are not throwing

them all in a basket. Ive been blessed with teachers who strive to meet

Sara's needs. Ive had only a few incidents and I immediately corrected any

situation that needed it.....with help from my listmates :)

Please don't think we are slamming teachers we're just looking for answers :)

Kathy mom to Sara 10...........wishing we never have to experience the

negative

Hi everyone,

Teachers and aides are just human like the rest of us. There are great ones,

good ones, mediocre ones, and bad ones. No teacher or aide should ever

unreasonably punish a child. Some people are just mean. Any teacher or aide

who unreasonably punishes a child should be reported to their principal or

school board.

I have to sort of walk a tightrope on this issue because I am parent to four

children with special needs and also have teaching experience/teacher education.

Sometimes I feel like the entire teaching profession is being indicted for the

actions of a few. Although we all like to vent our anger, frustration, and

grief, I always try to post the positives and leave the negatives at home.

This is our place to vent...I don't know what I would do without all of you

who listen to me and throw back ideas or are just plain supportive. We have

many teachers on the list and they often vent about their child's teacher.

I don't think there is one of us who has ever experienced all negative

things from all the teachers in our children's lives. These teachers who we

vent about are being paid with our tax dollars. It would be great if they

allowed us to complete a survey on all the teachers all of our children

have. Personally, I think I need to start attending school board meetings.

We have a special education advisory board that I should start supporting.

My oldest son just finished up his football season...3-7. Despite the

losses, I wrote a personal note to the coach to thank him for working with

my son and commented on how much personal growth I saw from him during this

football season.

Katey had an algebra teacher last year that gave her D's. She could not

" get " his teaching. The worse part was that he wanted Katey to repeat the

course this year. We went with Katey on this one. She is making A's in

Algebra 2. I keep telling her to fax her interims to her old teacher ;)

Tim ended up going to the meeting this morning..he woke me up 10 minutes

before they had to leave. He's much better at these meetings because I get

emotional. I'll have to figure out what I should do about the regular

teacher. I know now is not the time with the school holiday coming up.

I'm going to answer my own post..lol...with a follow up. Well the sped

teacher forgot about the meeting with us (hey, we all have those days), but

did meet with Tim. It's obvious they want to develop a self contained

classroom for their special needs children (there are now 2 girls with DS in

the resouce room..and one little guy with autism). Anway, Tim in his

opinion agreed that social studies is very boring for , but because

he loves math, he should go back into the regular classroom to be taught

there. He loves to sit with his worksheets and do his work. So that is

what they will be doing soon.

One of the biggest problems with inclusion this year is that the regular

teacher will not communicate with the sped teacher. An example...there was

to be a video at the end of the day. 's special ed teacher included

that in his schedule (and boy does he love his schedule!). When it was time

to go, the teacher decided to do something else. This of course upset

because he had been looking forward to it all day long. It upset

his sped teacher, too because she had to deal with , plus she should

have been told! See, she gets no support from the regular teacher

Is this something that the principal can help resolve?

Of the subject, when I try to answer one of your posts it will only put

in your address not the group. Hmmmm,

The VP intervened once. I'm going to wait until after the holidays and then

talk to the VP again.

About the reply, are you hitting reply to all or just reply?
