Hi,

A little on the topic of Christmas shopping so here goes. adores

santa. talks about him all year long. After 11 years she finally sat on his

lap and gave him a huge hug! We were at a crafts fair at my friends church

and he was there. She would be a little nervous to go over to him and sorta

wave and blow kisses. Yesterday she just went up to him and started hugging

him. So it took her 11 years, but she did it!

She even asked him for ninetendo and we had no intention of getting it. I

had a small chat with santa on the side about that.

But here is my question. How much longer can i let amanda believe in

santa??? She is 11 and in a teenager body. I'm not sure about my 7 year old

son and what he thinks. I think he still believes or is just playing along

because you know what happens when you stop believing.

So any ideas on this one??? my dh ralph said to me today, " I'm 39 and I

still believe. There is a santa isnt there? "

We have a similar " motto " in our family " You have to believe to receive " !!

We (myself and my siblings) all still believe (and we're all well into our

30's) and our children do, too--it makes it so much more fun--even though

we're not on the receiving end very much anymore!

Personally, I agree with your husband. Caiti is 11 and she still believes

and I told the kids that anyone who told her different was gonna get a good

swift kick! I still believe and no one better rain on my parade! The school

system is doing enough of that!

a sermon on what a materialistic person I was :(

Kathy mom to Sara 9.........thank goodness my kids believed me and not that

is around 16 in that picture. So don't worry.....be happy!! hehe

It really isn't that unusual to see teens standing in line to see Santa

around here. hehe

Maverick will be 11 this week and he still believes in Santa. Actually,

there is a man who is a friend of ours and plays Santa professionally.

Maverick thinks HE is the real Santa. I am letting him believe as long as he

can....as I did with my other children.

Hey, Mav thinks Buzz Lightyear and Winnie-the-Pooh are real!! We were at

Disneyland last week and he gave Eyore a lecture on not crying all the time.

He told him he sees him on his TV and all he does is CRY!! ( And such

complete sentences I have NEVER HEARD from that boy!! WHY can't he do that

with his speech therapist!!)

This is reminding me of my oldest, , now 24. We lived in Tucson,

where there is rarely snow. One wonderful Christmas, when she was 10, we had

snow. got up before the kids and went out and made sleigh tracks and

hoof prints through the back yard. The kids LOVED it.

When she was 13 her friends were making fun of her because she still believed

and so I told there that there really WASN'T a Santa. Later, she was

overheard to be telling my mother, " Mom said there is no Santa, but I don't

believe her. If there is no Santa, then HOW did the sleigh tracks get in the

back yard? I KNOW that was from Santa!! "

always speaks his best when he is reprimanding someone else or is mad.

Speaks clear as day and in nice complete sentences! I wonder why that is!

I'm with your husband. I still believe in Santa too. What's the

harm? knows but believes furvently this time of year and we have a

lot of fun with it. We went to a craft fair on Saturday and Santa was there

and not busy so sat with him and they had a long talk about their

beards and goodness knows what all. I started by kind of dropping hints,

such as Santa needs help from parents, and be sure to tell me the same thing

you tell Santa (which didn't always happen) and things like that. She's a

sharp girl, she'll be all right with it. I believed for a long time as a kid

even with other kids telling me the truth. I didn't want to give it up.

And I still believe it's such a beautiful story that I still don't want to

give it up. I wouldn't tell her abruptly at any age. (don't tell your

husband abruptly either, wouldn't want to break his heart either) Jessie

I still do too if I get a chance, so if you see Santa with a broken

lap you'll know why. Jessie
