Seth's bus was here on time, with a car seat and a smiling driver and aide! I'm meeting his new aide tomorrow. Hope my luck holds. My patience with stupidity is very short at the moment! I have a feeling things are going to be great for all of us this year! There have been so many good posts so far. Gail >> Way cool Gail!!!!! Our bus driver showed up today, but after I drove away with Maddie....LOLOLOL Picture this: me racing back up my street only to take Maddie OUT of our car seat and onto the bus!!!! (she was a little weirded out at first, but then seemed fine) I spotted him at the next block and thought it had to be him. I KNOW the driver thinks I'm nuts!! Then I follow him. Since Philly bus drivers are not allowed to drive on any expressways, I got the TOUR of my LIFE!!!!! Bad thing is Maddie got to school 45 minutes late. Obviously something has to be done. Good thing is Maddie was totally cool with the bus ride. I could see her little sandaled feet smacking together through the bus window the whole way. Had to fight back tears!! Mighta been better off if I couldn't see her....LOL The aide escorted her in and the aide from MM put out her hand to shake and Maddie TOOK IT!!!!! (I was beaming). Of course, she hid her face with her other hand, but still, I was impressed! Tomorrow I'm going to be brave and not follow the bus. Maddie will still do half days til Sept 18th. The teacher did say Maddie had a hard time leaving the classroom and going to the gym (as I predicted). Gotta work on that one. I gave them a pic of the gym, but after all, this was the first time she was ever in that room. THEN, I spent the afternoon at the Phila. parking authority. So fun. BUT we got the car back and hopefully learned a lesson-----------TO READ THE SIGNS BEFORE SHE PARKS!!! LOL Donna
Guest guest
Donna, That's great! The Maddie part I mean. LOL Well, getting your car back is great too! Too bad about Maddie being late for school, but I know around here, the bus schedule is pretty well set by...... May! LOL Seth likes to ride the bus too. Today I had a meeting with his new aide and He came out of the school to get on the bus and I held out my arms to him and he zipped right past me to get on the bus! I spent the meeting fighting back tears! LOL God luck with the bussing Donna. Hope they get it straight soon. Gail

Guest guest
Hi Gail, Couldn't someone walk him out to the regular bus? And how about recruiting some pals to be a buddy to Ted on the bus? Sounds like it is worth a try to me...but I would have the same concerns that you do. R. The system we have set up is that the front seat of the bus is reserved for her, so the bus driver can keep track of her and make sure she gets on and off when she needs to. We also arranged for a stop closer to our home (the bus drove right by our street, but didn't stop there and we had to drive her to the other stop) She used to have someone take her to the bus, but now (age 13) she is independent enough to do it herself. The only time we have had problems is when there is a substitute bus driver and he/she forgets to let her off at her stop . We have not had any problems with teasing etc.. that I know of. M.
