Guest guest
Hi, Just to let you know what happened this morning. I went to school to talk to the aide and teacher. I had limited time because I had an appt with one of the babies at the pediatrician. The aide wasn't there. The teacher and I talked. She said she was frustrated because Mav wasn't blowing his nose and other kids were commenting on it. He would come up to her to get his nose wiped and she would tell him No, do it yourself. Because the aide told her that since her 3 yr old could blow his nose, of course Maverick should be able to blow his nose. I set her straight and told her that while we were WORKING on it, there was no way that he was/is able to independently blow his nose. We decided that he would keep a box of kleenex on his desk and the teacher or aide would assist him when needed. I spoke to her about my concern with the aide comparing Maverick to her 3 yr old son #1. Period, #2. to Maverick, #3. in front of any classmates. I also commented that in the past couple of months the aide had referred to my son as a brat, and told me he was lazy. I shared that we felt she needed to be a bit more professional and positive when working with Maverick. The teacher agreed and we then took our concerns to the principal. It was decided that both the teacher and the principal would speak to her seperately and let her know that she needed to step back and think before she spoke. I did keep Maverick home today so she can have the day to get her emotions in check and start fresh with him on Monday. Thanks for all your input and suggestions. It's so nice to know that I am not alone in this and not the only one whose child can't blow his nose! As for venting my problems on this listserv, THANK GOODNESS I CAN! This is the best thing, to share your frustrations and your concerns and get input from other parents who REALLY know what I am feeling! Thank goodness I know that I'm not alone and there is a place that I can let down and not have to keep my " team " face! Now, we can get back to Christmas festivities!
