Jackie--

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. How terribly sad and

unnecessary. I will keep her family and yours in my thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations, too--good for you for getting your degree and now going

on for more!!

Thinking of you.

I am so happy for your degree and so sorry about the death of your

friend. I must tell you, this could have been . When he had his

second hip surgery (he was 15)after 8 to 10 hours in surgery, he was in

recovery and woke up and talked, went to sleep and stopped breathing.

Luckily, they were right there, but he had to be revived and they watched him

closely all night. My cousin's child with DS did something similar after

surgery so maybe it is a DS thing, but then my daughter had it happen after a

minor surgery, so maybe it's a family thing. I've never been sure. We

probably ought to bring this up when our kids have surgery, just in case. I

certainly will. Jessie

You know it might be a ds thing. I heard something like this before also. A

very young child (<2) had a second or third heart surgery in ton, SC.

THe child came through surgery fine, then died due to complications with

anesthesia (sp?) or pain meds. When Bridget had her tonsils and adenoid out, I

made the anestesiologist very much aware of this. It seems to occur with

multiple surgeries, but not in everyone.

This is sooooooooo sad, she has been thought of today.

I felt so bad for her family, I can't even begin to imagine their grief.
