Guest guest
Sue, is having a big attitude thing going on right now too. If he is sent to his room for some infraction, (usually yelling at me which I won't tolerate) he will open the door to his room and scream and slam the door. Once he figures I won't acknowledge him, he will change his tone and come out nice. Sometimes, he will start right back up with the negative behavior and get sent right back to his room. On a bad day we could do this over and over again. I don't know any answers unfortunately - let me know how you make out Dawn answering back I have a problem with tim that I'm sure someone else out there has had to deal with. Tim is developing an attitude problem, he has found it really hard to settle in his new school but leaving that aside this attitude thing was present last year too its just getting worse now. At school he is refusing to do anywork at all at the moment. He is loud (class disrupting loud), says 'NO' or 'GO AWAY' to everything, this is at home too. I have had words with him but to no avail. One day last week I snapped and shouted at him that he was being rude and disrespectful and that this 'GO AWAY' was to stop and stop now (actually that was 'NOW'). It really really bugs me! Anyway, I have had a chat at school and suggested obvious things like a pictorial timetable, to warn him before he has any change in his routine, to give him sensible choices like which do you want to do first rather than shall we do this?! His teacher is taking a laid back appraoch at the moment as she says most of the kids are acting up a bit due to the harvest festival preps this last week or two that have thrown them out of their new routines and isn't going to be worried until after half term when things settle down a bit. She will however impliment all the suggestions (and others) in the meantime and see what happens. Its so frustrating tho to hear that a previously reasonably well behaved little toad is being an absolute beast, and not only to staff (that I can live with) but also to his friends, who will not be friends much longer if it keeps up. And now that finally his IEP is up and running it may be possible to put a little structure back into his school life as well. Sue Wong Click reply to all for messages to go to the list. If he slams the door he must need practice in doing it correctly so I have him practice closing it several times. He gets bored real fast. Guest guest
Sue - I am the one who wrote a couple of weeks ago about 's stubbornness when it came time to work. Somebody mentioned that he is just trying to have SOME degree of control over his life - to have a voice about SOMETHING. It made sense to me. Read over those responses and see if any apply. Of course being out of the routine could be affecting his behavior too. How old is Tim? I can't remember. It's not puberty, right? Good luck! in Dallas answering back I have a problem with tim that I'm sure someone else out there has had to deal with.
