I have been on an Amish tour in the summer and can't say I was very

impressed. Neither was the person who took me and he was American. They

also tell you that you can't take pictures of them, but the year I went I got

home and there were pics of the very same people in the magazine Marie

- also saying you couldn't take pics - unless yuo paid them - lol. I would

advise everyone to save their money on the Amish tour and spend it on

champagne instead.

I have to say though, that Lancaster County is beautiful. In fact, I love

Pa., and if there is any chance of me coming over.................

The friend I stay with in Pa goes to Willow Valley every year for her wedding

anniversary as she spent her honeymoon there and she just loves it. She would

not go anywhere else and she goes in Dec.

I believe the picture thing is they do not allow pictures their faces to be

taken. Since having a whole bunch of tourists snapping photos could mean

that sometimes their faces would be in the pictures.......well you can see

why they don't want people taking them. A professional photographer would be

different since they would at least honor the religious beliefs of the people

and not take pictures that included the face. (in most cases)

And of course there are different sects of amish, just like most other

religions, some more open then others. (many of the different groups also

have drug and drinking problems in thier young adults, mostly males, which

surprises people, even me at first, lol, but after thinking about it, heck

when it's forbidden it's that much more desirable.....)
