RE: attack of america

I live in Virginia Beach, home to the largest Navy Master Jet base on the

east coast. I am working in Norfolk, not far from the Norfolk Naval Base,

home to the Atlantic Fleet. Right now in our schools, military moms and dads

are going in and saying goodbye to their kids on their way to report to ships

for immediate deployment.

Things are very tense here. I too fear that there is more to come.

Gail, I was at the school when it happened, and as soon as they mentioned the

plane crash in Pennsylvania, I said enough is enough, and took my children

home...I wasn't the only parent to do so. I would feel differently if we lived

somewhere less populated, but Dallas is just

too big a target to ignore this threat. I want my family together right now.

amanda got scared when she first heard the news because the principal broke

it to the class. I spoke to the nurse and she said she was crying. when I

asked her, she said she felt dizzy and and was very nervous. But she will

forget about it if she doesnt see it on TV.

on the other hand, age 7 is devasted and will have nightmares for too

long about this......

Hi,

I'm not sure where that school is, But Bklyn has not been affected as

far as injuries. You can get around Bklyn okay. They have closed Bridges

and tunnels going into Manhattan, coming into Bklyn from Staten Island and

Long Island.

I work at a hospital in bklyn. I'm on vacation this week. I have not

been called yet. . where i work is a level 1 trauma unit. I work on

pediatrics.

We are very forunate that this happened in Sept and not torwards the

end of the school year when Class trips go to the wtc.

My sister lives in NY. I tried many times to get thru with " all circuits

are busy " but stayed with it and finally reached her. She was in Manhattan

this am for a dr. appt with her daughter (another story). She went and

picked up her other daughter at school as it was a voluntary thing. She saw

the first strike - everyone thought it was an accident...........until the

2nd hit. She got out and I am glad. Many family, friends, acquaintances

etc. are in areas hit.

Houston is shutdown because of ship channels, NASA, etc. It's VERY quiet

here and phones are extremely quiet today.

from this list called Velita's mom. Then someone from Brooklyn was

able to call Velita directly. Her mom has to have dialysis and she was

concerned about her mom being able to get to the hospital...but she did today

and made it home ok.

Maybe this is one of the blessings of DS, that our kids are not

experiencing the same horror and fear that we are.

Checking in from Los Angeles... I worked at a building across the street

from the Los Angeles International airport and they sent us home around

10am. The stores in the mall are closing but the malls are still open... No

air traffic to speak of but lots of emergency sirens going off... almost all

flags I spotted on my way home are flying at half mast. Schools were still

open... the air around here is heavy... reminds me of the day after the

riots... really eerie.... My son's aide was fearful for her life... she is

middle eastern and was concerned about driving home... The news pictures

are unbelievable... it's just so unreal... it's also so amazing how well

orchestrated the terrorists actions are... How could the terrorists have

gotten control of 4 or more of our commercial airplanes at or near the same

time... it's obscene...
