Guest guest
HI Well, I wrote a note this morning requesting a conference with Sara's Sped teacher......see because of the NEW professionals coming into Sara's life, year after year (school cant hang onto a sped teacher uggg) I gave them six weeks to yell for help. I tried to talk to Sara's teacher in the beginning of the year, but she wasn't listening soooooo I sat back and waited for her to holler lol This week Sara's been a bit defiant, telling her assistants to " stop " etc..... she's ran from them at recess too. I got a note this week asking for some help with ideas, sooooo I am requesting a meeting Heehee I hate that I have to calmly sit back for period but this has worked for us. Also this week, Sara's last year assistant came to my car while I was waiting on Sara to come. She asked me for a favor......big favor lol she said the New sped teacher needs some positive feedback from ME lol that all of the parents are giving her such a hard time and this assistant knew I could bring her spirit's back to teaching. Well, this would be fine and dandy if I had full confidence in her teaching and I don't BUT the flip side of the coin is, she could quit NOW and who knows who we would get. This is a first year teacher and we as parents could possibly train her Heehee soooo when we meet I will build her back up, encourage her to use her listening skills and meet us parents half way Kill with kindness Mom says Now if I face resistance who knows what I'll do lol Im not sure if she really realizes Sara's IEP is a contract, one she must follow, maybe she missed that in IDEA Law 101. Maybe she also missed the part we as parents are the experts on our kids soooo there is no need to keep reinventing the wheel.... Just listen to us Im working on my notes, I have been documenting the past 6 weeks so this should be interesting. I really don't want her to quit, but she has to be able to admit when she's been wrong. Kathy mom to Sara 9..........all are hoping at school that I can sway other parents to get off this teacher's back........geeesh who do they think I am lol

Guest guest
Kathy, I feel for ya. I am so tired of fighting with Austin's teachers that next week at our meeting, I'm going to educate them, ream them, then pull my son from their school. They complain when the bus drops him off 10 minutes early because they are alone with him! I can't believe it. The sad part of the whole thing is Austin senses their attitudes, and now he hates going to school. That has never been a problem. I know I need to fight them and educate them about IEP's and so on, but I am NOT willing to risk leaving my son somewhere he's not happy just to prove a point. Oh, well. I am filing a complaint with the state, and they may lose their sped contract for the preschool with our school system. Good, they don't need to be around sped kids if they are only in it for the money!!! Beth
