Anyway, I think we all know exactly where you are coming from and can

relate without a doubt. But the way you describe it, only we would

understand and you are funnier than any sit com or stand up comedian. And I

mean of course the situ is not funny to any of us, but your way of handeling

it is.

Well to me anyway. I am sorry for all your frustrations and I will be

joining the ranks of frustrated people tomorrow when my kids go to school and

i go to work and cant be there for them!!! I hope doesnt get lost.

Called the teacher oh, about 4 times wanting to talk to her before school

started and it is less than 12 hours away and there is no return call.

We'll see......

I am a sporadic reader, but thought you had left VA!! Another mom had the

same problem today with her high schooler. I guess the " authorities " meant

to read up on students rights over the summer but just did not find the

time...hmm, maybe someone could write some Cliff notes??

What finally worked for us when was in the same situation was to just

the head of sped that was fine they could not get into Sped anytime

soon, she would prefer to take art and music, etc. anyway. She could not

believe that I would actually take to the school and sign her up as

if ........ whatever works!

Cyn, I love the way you write. I was feeling all your frustration and

laughing at your prosaic letter at the same time:))) I have heard about

Virginia. When I enrolled my daughter in college, (Georgia) they told me

that they only had to honor the ADA. I explained to them that I knew that

IDEA said " educated until age 21. " I also said that since they took public

funds, they had to abide by all the laws. She doesn't want her IEP but she

didn't want to take math her first semester and since she didn't do well on

her math entrance exam, they were attempting to force her. I managed to

convince the dean of students that this could get ugly and she could avoid

it by signing off on her courses and have her take math NEXT semester.

Tara has an incredible advocate in you. You go get em. Keep me

informed.
