Guest guest
Listmates, I'm in search of ideas about what's happening here. Everywhere I turn, I read about how beneficial zinc is for our kids, and how calming it is. Except for Kenny, it gets him VERY hyper (even just 25 mg for a 50+ lb child). As we have watched the effects of the DMSA this week make Kenny even more hyper and stimmy, it occurs to me that what we are seeing with DMSA is what we see when we give him zinc. So is the zinc detoxing him too? I'm wondering if I should continue giving it to him or stop. As we get more mercury and other heavy metals out of him, is there a chance that zinc will have the same effects with him as it does with most kids? I should add that Kenny ALWAYS seems to react opposite to the way most of our kids react. For example, DMG made him extremely lethargic, while folic acid made him more hyper. Sedatives, of course, make him hyper. Could this all be because of blocked pathways? And if the normal pathway is blocked, then what happens? Does it use another pathway? (Sorry, I don't have much in the way of a scientific background other than what I have learned because of Kenny's problems.) (Cary, NC) persistentC@...
