Guest guest
Debbie, Just my personal opinion, no real documentation, but does not regress over the summer and by not going to school, she learns from a different kind of experience. Like the experiences that camp can offer or the socialization of going to different places, like beaches, parks and pools. And we do practice some academic stuff always like reading, writing (in a summer journal) and math games. ~ Mom to going into 5th grade also and going into 2nd

Guest guest
I think it depends on the child, what kind of regress or area of regression, how well those areas can be supported at home, etc. Jess loses some skills in summer, but tends to make a lot progress in some other areas--I guess it's a question of which ones are most important for a given summer too. Guest guest
Debbie, My son gets a full 12 month program here in western NY because his teachers document regression at the usual school breaks and it is put into his iep that he has a twelve month program.
