However, food for thought..... The way I think about this situation, is somehow similar to what all the legal folks of the world, tried to sell me about 13 years ago, when I was involved in the disgusting arena of the court systems, while going through my divorce. When my ex was not helping at all, with my three small kids, one being my young, very hyper 4 yo with Autism, and I complained to the courts that why should he have joint parenting rights when he doesn't joint parent? They kept feeding me a line of crap that all he was required to do was pay his little $500 a month child support (for 3 kids mind you) and he had rights. He didn't have to actually take the kids every other weekend, and 1 measly day for dinner and 2 measly weeks in the summer, to give the single, working mom a break, and the kids a little time with their father. But, he had equal rights to make decisions for the kids. He was doing what was required!!!!!!! It was only MY opinion that all that stuff was necessary to consider him a good parent, after all he paid his child support. WHAT?? Well sorry folks, these are the same type of idiots that we have running our state. Lets just say, I don't think they could get it right if they had a detailed manual sent down from GOD. Yea, I said it selfish IDIOTS!!!!! Expect nothing, and then you will never be disappointed. Ah our wonderful legal, and political system in Illinois. Pathetic thats what it is. A bunch of folks who care about nothing except their own paycheck. Yea, real pillars of society. NOT. End of Story. I hate the notion of borrowing to fix our enormous budget deficit. There have been numerous opportunities to cut spending and to enact budget reform, that have not materialized. This state is about as screwed up as it gets and it is incredibly depressing and demoralizing to think that it is our children, both those with and without disabilities who will bear the brunt. The fact is, I have come to believe that social service will get hit even harder if we do not borrow and do so soon. Much as I hate to say it, I believe that we should be talking to our Senators this week while they are on holiday break to encourage them to vote to borrow from the pension funds. I am sorry to take up IPADDU space on this, so please forgive me! I am truly worried about the survival of many agencies and their ability to serve those already getting supports and services. Needless > to say, I am just as concerned for those who have little hope of receiving any supports or services any time soon. I am struggling to figure out what is the right thing to do. > I have already called my Senator, Garrett, to encourage her to vote for SB 3514.
